Tim Curry Makes Rare Red Carpet Appearance at Premiere of 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' Remake

Tim Curry is set to appear in Fox's upcoming reboot of the 1975 cult classic

He played the “Sweet Transvestite” scientist Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the iconic 1975 cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show. And now, over 40 years later, Tim Curry is returning to the musical that made him a star.

Curry, 70, is set to appear in Fox’s upcoming reboot, The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let’s Do the Time Warp Again. And on Thursday, he joined the cast — including his role’s new star Laverne Cox — at the Los Angeles premiere, marking a rare red carpet appearance for the actor.

Curry, who has been in a wheelchair since suffering a stroke in 2013, was dressed in an all-black ensemble.

“I’m doing well,” he told Los Angeles magazine in June 2015, adding that his sense of humor has been “absolutely vital” to his recovery.

“It’s not tough to maintain,” he told the magazine. “It is just part of my DNA.”

The 2016 Rocky Horror Picture Show cast also includes Victoria Justice (Janet), Ryan McCartan (Brad), Adam Lambert (Eddie), Christina Milian (Magenta), Annaleigh Ashford (Columbia), Reeve Carney (Riff Raff) and Ben Vereen (Dr. Everett von Scott).

“I think we mix up the look more than they did in the original,” Cox told Entertainment Weekly earlier this year of her look for the role. “It’s way more elaborate and couture. [Director] Kenny Ortega had this vision that Frank was at this old theater and found these old burlesque costumes and is, like, using them and wearing them now but has altered them a bit.”

The Rocky Horror Picture Show remake premieres Thursday at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
