Wells Adams Shares Cute Tribute to Sarah Hyland on Engagement Anniversary: ‘It’s Been 5 Years Since I Conned This Woman’

Wells Adams marked his engagement anniversary with a tribute to his wife.

On Sunday, July 7, the Best in Dough host, 40, shared a tribute to Sarah Hyland, 33, to celebrate the five-year anniversary of their engagement. 

"It’s been 5 years since I conned this woman to spend the rest of her life with me," he wrote in the caption. "Best decision I’ve ever made. I love you so much @sarahhyland 🥹😘 Happy engagement anniversary, darlin."

The post included a photo of the couple cozying up on a beach in Fiji with the Modern Family alum’s diamond engagement ring on display.

The two stars got engaged in 2019 before tying the knot in August 2022 in an outdoor wedding ceremony near Santa Barbara, Calif. 

They previously made their relationship Instagram-official in 2017, with Adams later confirming that they had met via social media.

In May, the actress, who is currently starring in the hit off-Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors as skid row dweller Audrey, revealed her husband’s unexpected reaction to her new role — which was originated by Ellen Greene — during a visit to Live with Kelly and Mark.

"I don't do the Ellen Greene accent," said Hyland. "But my husband was asking me on the phone, 'Hey, how do you do it? Do it for me!' So I gave him a little preview over the phone of the accent."

What Hyland got in return was what she called "the wildest reaction I could have imagined."

"He goes, ‘This is going to be very sexual for me,' " Hyland recalled, noting she said, "What?! What!" in response. "He was like, ‘It’s like my wife is doing Marisa Tomei in My Cousin Vinny and it’s very hot.’ "

Ever since joining the production, several of Hyland’s Modern Family costars have visited her, including her on-screen mom Julie Bowen, who later gushed about her performance in an Instagram post.

"I always knew my baby girl was good, but even after 11 years together on Modern Family, I didn’t know she was THIS good," Bowen wrote.

Adams also praised his wife's performance on Instagram. He shared a production photo with the caption, "Appreciation post for my extremely talented wife. @sarahhyland ‘s portrayal of Audrey in @littleshopnyc is perfection. The acting, the singing, the dancing, the comedy, the pain, the everything is astounding."
