I have a broad interest in labour markets, inflation, commodities & foreign exchange. I have also been fortunate to work with the local Westpac teams in Fiji and PNG.
The latest Westpac PNG Economic Update is out covering recent events, market pricing and an update of our forecasts. We take a look at the cocoa market and agree that prices are likely to remain higher for longer. However, so far 2024 has been patchy at best for the country and the recent natural disaster highlight the work the needs to be done to improve things for all Papuans.
