Warrant/Fugitive Division Felony Arrest Report #PGSO

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the following felony arrests:

First Degree Robbery Suspect Extradited

Sheriff’s deputies extradited Michelle Bigelow of Woodford, VA back to Prince George’s County, MD on November 16, 2016 from the Rappahannock Jail in Stafford, VA. Bigelow was wanted on an arrest warrant for First Degree Robbery issued on October 24th, 2016 by the District Court of Prince George's County.

According to the warrant, on October 16, 2016, at a convenience store in the 8000 block of Hampton Mall in Capitol Heights, MD, Bigelow and two other suspects are alleged to have entered the store, grabbed items off the shelves and placed it inside their clothing. When the store manager questioned their behavior, Bigelow allegedly struck the male victim on the side of the face with a closed fist. The suspect then fled the scene.

Bigelow is also charged with First and Second Degree Assault and Theft less than $1000.

First Degree Burglary Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Prince Martin of Capitol Heights, MD on a warrant for First Degree Burglary that was issued by the County Police Department on October 21th, 2015.

On October 9th, 2015 County Police responded to a theft that had just occurred at a residential address in the 1000 block of Dutton Way in Capitol Heights, MD. Martin and two other suspects was alleged to have gained entry from the second story window, burglarized a residence, and fled the scene. Officers canvassed the area and detained Martin and one other suspect who fit witness descriptions. Unable to reach the homeowner, the two were released. After their release, a female victim reported the burglary and identified Martin as an acquaintance from school.

On November 14th, Deputies located Martin in the 5000 block of Folgate Court in Capitol Heights, MD. He was detained and transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections (DOC) for processing.

Martin is also charged with Burglary Third and Fourth Degree and Theft 1,000 to 10,000.

Warrant/Fugitive Division Felony Arrest Report #PGSO

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the following felony arrests:

Attempted First Degree Murder Suspect Extradited

Sheriff’s deputies extradited Rodrico Jenkins of District Heights, MD back to Prince George’s County, MD on October 21th, 2016 from the Central Virginia Regional Jail in Orange, VA. Jenkins was wanted on an arrest warrant for Attempted First Degree Murder issued on August 17th, 2016 by the District Court of Prince George's County.

According to the warrant, on August 16th police responded to a shooting in the 1200 block of Drum Avenue in Capitol Heights, MD. Jenkins was involved in an argument with two males when he allegedly pulled and pointed a gun, fired it and fled the scene. The warrant states that the argument was related to an ongoing family issue and that Jenkins had previously made threats to the family.

Jenkins is also charged with Attempted Second Murder, First and Second Degree Assault and Firearm use in a Felonious Violent Crime.

First Degree Assault Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Keon Watson of Suitland MD, on an arrest warrant for First Degree Assault that was obtained by County Police on October 06, 2016.

According to the warrant, on October 5th, Watson was engaged in an argument that turned into a fight with a male in the 8600 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Highway in Glenarden, MD. During the altercation, Watson allegedly produced a handgun and shoved it into the male victim’s side, after which he fled the scene. The warrant further states that after further investigation, the County Police executed a search and seizure for Watson’s apartment and recovered controlled dangerous substances and weapons.

Upon receiving the warrant on October 11th, Sheriff Deputies located Watson at a residence in the 4000 block of Suitland Road in Suitland, MD. Watson was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro, Md.

Watson was also charged with Second Degree Assault, CDS Possession with Intent to Distribute Narcotics, Firearm use in a Felonious Violent Crime, Illegal Possession of a Firearm, Illegal Possession Ammunition, Handgun on Person, and Theft less than $1,000.

Warrant/Fugitive Division Felony Arrest Report #PGSO

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the following felony arrests:

 First Degree Assault Subject Arrested

Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Angel Rosendo Guzman-Cedillo, of Hyattsville, MD on an arrest warrant for Assault First Degree obtained by the County Police on November 6^th, 2016.

The warrant states that on November 5th, police officers responded to the 8100 block of 14^th avenue in Hyattsville, MD for a report of an assault. Officers arrived on scene and met with the victim who stated that he was asleep in bed when he was assaulted by Guzman-Cedillo. According to the warrant Guzman-Cedillo arrived home intoxicated and struck the victim on the head with a metal pole as he slept. The victim suffered a laceration to his head but was able to call 911.

Deputies went to the address where the incident occurred after determining that Guzman-Cedillo was staying at the residence. Deputies were granted entry and once inside a deputy observed a man matching the description of Guzman-Cedillo who attempted to flee through a rear window. Positively identified as Guzman-Cedillo, he was advised of the warrant, taken into custody, and transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections without incident.

Guzman-Cedillo is also charged with second Degree Assault.

 First Degree Assault Suspect Extradited

Sheriff’s Deputies extradited William McKinney (alias Brandon Bogtick) of Fort Washington, MD on an arrest warrant for First Degree Assault that was obtained by the County Police on September 12, 2014.

 

The Warrant states that on September 11, McKinney entered a 7-Eleven store in the 4900 block of Silver Hill Road and displayed a handgun. McKinney demanded money from the clerk and threatened to shoot her if she did not comply. McKinney stole approximately $50 dollars from the register before fleeing in an unknown direction. The incident was captured by surveillance video.

Deputies went to the Clinton Correction Facility in Dannemora, NY to extradite McKinney who was being held on a detainer filed by Prince George’s County Maryland District Court for the First Degree Assault Charge. On November 8^th he was transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections without incident.

McKinney is also charged with Armed Robbery.

Warrant/Fugitive Division Felony Arrest Report #PGSO

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the following felony arrests:

Theft: $10,000 to under $100,000 Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Earl Knight of Oxon Hill, MD, who was wanted on an arrest warrant for Theft: $10,000 to under $100,000 that was obtained by County Police on October 20, 2016.

According to the warrant, on October 10th, at a restaurant in the 170 block of Fleet Street in Oxon Hill, MD, Knight, a former employee, is alleged to have stolen money from the manager’s office. The warrant states that Knight was seen on video removing keys from his pocket and opening the office door. Knight allegedly gained access to two safes and took over $10,000. The warrant further states Knight previously sent several threatening messages to the manager regarding a shortage on his last pay check.

Upon receipt of the warrant, Warrant/Fugitive Deputies began an investigation into Knights’ whereabouts. On October 27, 2016, he was located and apprehended at a residence in the 300 block of Brockton Road in Oxon Hill, MD. Knight was taken into custody without incident and transported to District IIII for questioning.

He is also charged with Fourth Degree Burglary.

Third Degree Sex Offense Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Ricardo Lainez-Rodriguez of Oxon Hill, MD on an arrest warrant for Third Degree Sex Offense obtained by County Police on September 7, 2016.

According to the warrant, during the month of August 2016 at a location in Temple Hills, MD, Lainez-Rodriguez was engaged in sexual contact with an underage victim. On October 28th, Deputies’ located Lainez-Rodriguez in the 800 block of Marcy Ave in Oxon Hill, MD where he was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.

Lainez-Rodriguez is also charged with Assault Second Degree and Sex Offense Fourth Degree Sexual Contact.

Warrant/Fugitive Division Felony Arrest Report

 First Degree Assault Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Anthony Johnson, of Hyattsville, MD on an arrest warrant for First Degree Assault obtained by the Mount Ranier Police on October 11^th, 2016.

According to the warrant, on October11^th, Mount Rainier Police officers were dispatched to the 3100 block of Queens Chapel Road in Mount Rainier, MD for a First Degree Assault call. Officers arrived on scene and spoke with the victim who stated that she and Johnson were arguing when Johnson pointed a gun at her and threatened to shoot her in front of her family members. Johnson left the scene before the police arrived.

Upon receipt of the warrant, Sheriff’s Deputies went to the address of the incident; a resident opened the door and allowed them to enter. Deputies requested the name of a male who walked into the room who replied that he was Anthony Johnson. He was informed of the warrant, taken into custody without incident and transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.

Johnson is also charged with Assault Second Degree Assault and Handgun on a Person.

 First Degree Assault Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Takema Owens of Capitol Heights, MD on an arrest warrant for First Degree Assault that was obtained by the County Police on November 1, 2016.

 

The Warrant states that on October 31, a victim walked into Southern Maryland Hospital suffering from a laceration on his left cheek. The victim stated that Owens cut him on his face with a sharp object during an argument.

On November 1, Deputies’ investigation led them to an address in the 5800 block of Walker Mill Road in Capitol heights MD. When deputies knocked on the door they were granted entry by a resident. Once inside deputies advised that they had a warrant for Owens who was at the residence. She was taken into custody and transported to the Prince George’s County Regional Processing Unit in Hyattsville without incident.

Owens is also charged with Second Degree Assault.

NAIFA/Sheriff “Teddy Bear” Partnership Celebrates 15th Year #PGSO

Upper Marlboro, MD… Sheriff Melvin C. High and Chief Assistant Sheriff Darrin Palmer accepted over 700 Teddy Bears from the Prince George’s County chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA), at the association’s breakfast meeting yesterday at The County Club at Woodmore in Mitchellville, MD. Sheriff’s deputies use the Teddy Bears to comfort small children they encounter while responding to domestic violence related calls for service.

“Gary Beall’s excitement keeps this project alive and growing from year to year,” said Chief Assistant Sheriff Darrin Palmer, who has maintained the partnership with NAIFA for the last fifteen years. “These Teddy Bears bring comfort to little ones during stressful and chaotic situations and helps make our job easier as we deal with young children.”

Sheriff High thanked the NAIFA members for their important support for victims of domestic violence. “As law enforcement, this world commands so much of our attention, but children are often forgotten in these situations, I so appreciate NAIFA and its’ members continuing to support families and children who are affected by domestic violence and I look forward to our working together for years to come.”

“Children should be protected and we hope these Teddy Bears help deputies comfort and show the children they come in contact with how much they care with one of these Teddy Bears. We want these Teddy Bears to make a difference for a child when they are frightened and confused, “said Brandon M. Rechert, President of the Prince George’s County NAIFA chapter. In further comments, Mr. Rechert reaffirmed NAIFA’s commitment to the Teddy Bear partnership, and thanked its members for a record-breaking drive again this year.

Warrant/Fugitive Division Felony Arrest Report #PGSO

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the following felony arrests:

Gas Station Robbery Suspects Arrested

  Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Horacio Silva, of College Park, MD and Sabrina Strouse, of Edgewater, MD on an arrest warrant for Robbery obtained by County Police on September 16, 2016.

According to the warrant, on September 14th, Silva and Strouse were in the 10900 block of Baltimore Avenue in Beltsville, MD where they are alleged to have broken into a vehicle as a woman pumped gas. According to the warrant, Strouse reached through the passenger window, unlocked the door, and walked away. Seconds later, Silva approached the vehicle, opened the door and took the victims’ belongings. When the female victim saw what was happening and attempted to retrieve her purse, Silva elbowed the victim and kept the purse as both fled the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital for her injuries.

On September 28th, deputies’ investigation led them to both suspects in the 9100 block of Baltimore Avenue in College Park, MD. They were advised of the open warrants for their arrest and were taken into custody without incident, and transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.

Horacio Silva and Sabrina Strouse is also charged with Con-Robbery, Assault First Degree, Assault Second Degree, Rouge and Vagabond, and Theft less than $1000

First Degree Assault Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Brian Adams of Upper Marlboro MD, who was wanted on an arrest warrant for First Degree Assault that was obtained by County Police on September 28, 2016.

According to the warrant, on the day the warrant was obtained, Adams and his former spouse were engaged in verbal altercation in a parking lot in the 2000 block of Shadyside Avenue in Suitland, MD. During the argument Adams allegedly pointed a handgun at the victim and threatened to kill her. The warrant also states that Adams left the handgun inside the vehicle when he fled the scene on foot.

On October 6, 2016, Deputies investigating the warrant determined that Adams had a pending court hearing at the Hyattsville Courthouse. He was arrested after the hearing without incident and transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections (DOC) Hyattsville Regional Center for processing.

Adams is also charged with Second Degree Assault, Handgun in Vehicle, Handgun on Person, Firearm use and Violent Crime, and Illegal Possession Ammunition.

Office of the Sheriff Announces Pilot Body-Worn Camera Program #PGSO

Upper Marlboro, MD… The Prince George's County Office of the Sheriff announced today that it began a body-worn camera pilot project on November 2nd to test camera equipment of several vendors. Cameras from each vendor will be tested; two by deputies in the Domestic Violence Intervention Division, one in the Landlord & Tenant Evictions Section, and one in the Warrant Fugitive Division. The pilot is funded with a $150,000 grant through the 2015 Urban Area Security Initiative, Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency. Completion of the pilot is expected to take between four and six months.

According to Lt. Brian Endlich, who is overseeing the evaluation, deputies will be trained in the proper use of each piece of equipment and will follow the agency’s written body-worn camera policy required under Maryland Police Public Safety Article 3-511. The agency’s policy has been reviewed and vetted by the Maryland Attorney General’s Office.

“I believe this technology can be an effective tool for use in public safety,” said Sheriff High. “Our goal with this pilot is to understand the technology better and to determine whether body-worn cameras can help us do our work more effectively, including delivering greater transparency and accountability to citizens in the performance of our duties.”

Lt. Endlich said the pilot will enable the Training Division to review and evaluate every aspect of body-worn camera usage, including the user friendliness, capacity and durability of the equipment in order to select the best camera should the agency decide to implement a body-worn camera program.

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. -- Deputies in Prince George’s County have teamed up with Prince George’s County Schools to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community.

Dozens of students at Walker Mill Middle School, are cadets in the Sheriff’s Positive Deputies Assisting Youth (DAY) Mentoring Program.

“It helped me grow and it helped me feel more comfortable with people around me,” said an eighth grader at Walker Mill.

“Before I started this program last year, I was really irresponsible, really shy, didn’t care about stuff, but this year, I’ve been more responsible, more confident,” expressed another eighth grader.

Sergeant Rick Johnson is one of several deputies that spends time in ten Prince George’s County middle schools.

Johnson said the relationships deputies are building with students are invaluable.

“We are showing them that we are human, we care for you just like your mother and father would, whatever help you need, we are here to give it to you,” Sergeant Johnson explained.

Thursday, Schools CEO Dr. Kevin Maxwell and Prince George’s County Sheriff Melvin High, signed a memo, making Positive Day a formal partnership between schools and local law enforcement.

“This kind of relationship is truly important to the success of our children,” Dr. Maxwell told DCW50.

Walker Mill 8^th graders that will soon graduate from the program said they have one way to describe their mentor, Sergeant Johnson.

“He’s a hero because he’s taking people who were no where and brought them somewhere,” expressed an eighth grade cadet.

Sheriff High said he hopes to be able to receive grants to expand the program to more county schools and continue the program through the summer months.
