Food security remains one of the most pressing global challenges, with climate change and environmental degradation exacerbating the difficulties in ensuring a stable and sustainable food supply. The traditional, fragmented approaches to addressing food security often fall short, failing to consider the intricate interdependencies within ecosystems. Au Shion Yee , Principal Water Resource Specialist, Agriculture, Food, Nature, and Rural Development of ADB, mentioned during our recent webinar, "From Farm to Fork: Rural Development and Food Security in Asia and the Pacific," that a holistic approach, connecting nature, climate, and food from source to sea, offers a comprehensive solution that not only addresses immediate food needs but also fosters long-term sustainability and resilience. #OP5 #Ruraldevelopment #Foodsecurity

Asian Development Bank (ADB)'s Annual Meeting in Tbilisi is offering a unique opportunity to understand, address and influence opinions on burning topics. A very timely discussion on impacts of climate change driven extreme heat on women in the Asia-Pacific region was noteworthy. Women spend long hours over a hot stove cooking, have cultural constraints on their mobility and clothing. Many work in informal sectors like agriculture under the heat of the sun and often due to limited access to water and sanitation, may choose not to drink enough water. Effective, gender-responsive strategies are needed to build resilience and ensure women’s health and economic security.
