Since 2008, Brad Pitt has co-owned a French estate called Château Miraval—and, by extension, the long-dormant recording facility Miraval Studios. Now, Pitt has teamed up with French composer and producer Damien Quintard to renovate and reopen the fabled studio, which hosted sessions for classic records including Pink Floyd’s The Wall and the Cure’s Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me. The studio, which has been inactive since the early 2000s, will begin hosting sessions in summer 2022.

Quintard, whose résumé includes work with Brian Eno and Arca, said of Pitt in a statement: “When we met in Paris, we immediately clicked. It was an intense moment where we just talked and talked about sound. I was amazed at how sensitive and precise he was in his analysis of music.”

Miraval has also hosted AC/DC, Sade, the Cranberries, Courtney Love, and Sting, among others. The renovated studio is built around a custom sound desk designed by Pitt and Quintard.
