    Despite AI’s rapid progress, some professions seem 100% safe from replacement. Healthcare is thought to be one of them. Cyber-neurosurgeons are still sci-fi, with no reality in sight. But does it hold true for each and every professional in this field? Meet IYŪ, an AI-based massage robot built by Capsix. It applies sensors to “adapt” procedures, building upon one-of-a-kind body-specific data and personal preferences. The robot's mechanical arms, fitted with massage nodes, move smoothly over the body, altering pressure and techniques in conformity with identified muscle tension. In-built features provide for safety and user protection. Check out this video, posted by The Independent, to the robot in action! Would you agree to a session with this robot, either on your own or if advised by a therapist? In any case, medicine, despite the importance of human-to-human interaction and the enormous responsibility on individuals, is being robotized as well. #ArtificialIntelligence #HealthTech #FutureofHealthcare #AIinMedicine #MedicalInnovation #DigitalHealthcare

    Healthcare opts for AI. For custom-built AI. At Andersen, as a custom software development hub for healthcare clients, we firmly believe that one size does not fill for all and it is very often in clinical care that bespoke solutions are the best way forward. When we came across industry insights from McKinsey & Company, we were pleased to see that their findings confirmed our assumptions, especially in such a pioneering field as AI. Namely, their 2024 survey involved 100 US healthcare leaders and sought to explore attitudes to adopting generative AI in this professional group. Here’s what the survey results reveal: - Generative AI is expected to transform healthcare, with over 70 percent of organizations already pursuing or implementing these technologies; - While healthcare organizations are eager to integrate generative AI, some remain cautious, adopting a wait-and-see approach; - Most organizations are in the proof-of-concept phase for generative AI, carefully weighing the benefits and risks. One of the best strategies to mitigate potential risks is relying on bespoke AI-driven solutions, and the survey supports this approach: - A majority of organizations that are implementing generative AI are collaborating with third-party vendors (59 percent), with 24 percent developing solutions in-house, and only 17 percent opting for off-the-shelf products. This reflects a strong preference for customized AI solutions — a trend that aligns perfectly with our focus at Andersen. This is great news for vendors like Andersen but also a great responsibility to implement these new tools in the most effective/efficient and usable way in order they will be able to serve medical professionals and their patients. Link to the report is here https://lnkd.in/dasRGgAi What do you think? Is partnering with custom developers the best approach in the AI-for-healthcare domain? #AIInHealthcare #CustomAI #HealthcareInnovation #HealthTech #AIAdoption #MedicalAI

    • Healthcare leans towards AI, especially in custom solutions. Andersen, a hub for healthcare software, advocates for tailored AI. McKinsey's 2024 survey with 100 US healthcare leaders found:

70% of organizations pursue generative AI;
Some are cautious, taking a wait-and-see approach;
Many are in the proof-of-concept phase, assessing benefits and risks.
The survey suggests that bespoke AI solutions can mitigate risks. Most organizations collaborating with third-party vendors (59%), developing in-house (24%), or using off-the-shelf products (17%). Custom solutions are favored, aligning with Andersen's focus. While beneficial, implementing these tools effectively is crucial for medical professionals and patients. Is partnering with custom developers the optimal AI-for-healthcare strategy?

    🚑 🏥 Overseeing digital transformation initiatives in care is challenging yet rewarding. In our latest expert interview, Alena Burdzialouskaya, Andersen’s Head of Partnerships, discusses this exciting topic with Claus Torp Jensen.   Claus is a chief digital officer and chief technology officer of leading healthcare organizations, so he knows the topic inside and out. He is also a motivating storyteller and a critical thinker. As our guest put it, “We have to not just look at the engineering aspect of solutions. We have to not just think about requirements. We have to look for the great experience.” We were particularly curious to hear his opinion on: ✅ patient centricity  ✅ team motivation ✅ technology trends ✅ digital product development ✅ benefits and drawbacks of digital transformation in care ✅ AI in remote patient monitoring ✅ the evolution of telemedicine, etc. We are sure that if you aspire to meaningful changes and innovation in your organization in any field (not only in healthcare) this interview is a must to see for you. As Claus shared with us, “Innovation is hard. A lot of times, people think of innovation as something that happens on the side. Allergies are no nuisance. Luckily, new ways emerge. Allergies are more than seasonal sneezes and sniffles. For millions of people worldwide, these conditions can lead to severe and life-threatening reactions, such as anaphylaxis. It suffices to say that 30-40% of the global population suffers from allergic conditions, while the global incidence of anaphylaxis stands between 50 and 112 episodes per 100,000 person-years. Anaphylaxis can kill the patient within minutes by causing shock and difficulty breathing, and immediate intervention is required. For years, the EpiPen has been the only go-to solution for those at risk. Basically, the EpiPen is a specially designed syringe, delivering a quick dose of life-saving epinephrine into a patient's muscle. Though life-saving, this approach carries some intrinsic risks, such as delaying the injection due to fear of needles and the risk of confusion during use in critical situations. For example, a study by Professor Dr. Nathan Bond's et al. from the Texas State University Medical Branch found that just 16 percent of adults who've been prescribed epinephrine know how to use an autoinjector, including parents who might need to inject their child. Now, there's great news for those affected: the FDA has approved Neffy, a needle-free nasal spray that offers a new, user-friendly alternative to the traditional auto-injector. Designed for both adults and children, Neffy promises easier administration; broader accessibility; and potentially, a reduction in the number of anaphylaxis-related deaths. Truly an awesome example of medical progress! But everyone knows that prophylaxis is better than treatment. At Andersen, as a team of medical app developers, we would like to draw your attention to innovative ways to prevent allergies and to stay informed and better prepared when living with allergies, using innovative digital instruments like Allergy Plus or Allergy Force, which track allergens and help manage consequent conditions. As we embrace new innovations like Neffy, the integration of such advancements with cutting-edge technology offers a powerful means for individuals to take control of their health. Together, these innovations pave the way for a future where living with allergies becomes easier and less daunting. #Allergies #DigitalHealth #HealthTech #MedicalInnovations #EpiPen #Neffy

    • Allergies are more than just sneezes; they can cause severe reactions like anaphylaxis, affecting 30-40% of the global population. The EpiPen has been the primary solution, but it has risks, such as fear of needles and confusion during use. Only 16% of adults know how to use it correctly.

The FDA has now approved Neffy, a needle-free nasal spray, offering a user-friendly alternative. This innovation, along with apps like Allergy Plus and Allergy Force, helps manage allergies better. Embracing these advancements makes living with allergies easier and safer.

    Alina Lada, Director of IT Partnerships at Andersen, recently shared an elegant and highly technical publication about how classical music aids individuals with severe depression. Through the use of implanted brain-stimulation electrodes and the latest methods of brain visualization, we now have a precise understanding of how this process works. Please take a moment to read Alina's post, and remember that Andersen possesses significant expertise in Digital Mental Health. We would be delighted to discuss this further with you.

    Being an amateur (though quite proficient) pianist, I am well aware of the numerous benefits that classical music can bring, beyond providing mental relaxation after difficult business conversations. For example, it is well established that teaching music to children enhances their memory, heightens emotional intelligence, increases creativity, and helps them stay focused. But the recent article in the Cell Press journal Cell Reports impressed me greatly because it literally proves how classical music helps adults with severe depression. Researchers from China were focused on 13 patients with severe depression who already had electrodes implanted in their brains for deep-brain stimulation. This allowed them to investigate brainwave measurements together with modern neuroimaging techniques to show how classical music elicits its positive effects on the brain. In brief, they found that music synchronizes the neural oscillations between the auditory cortex, responsible for processing sensory information, and the reward circuit, responsible for processing emotional information, eventually creating an antidepressant effect. What’s particularly interesting is that the study showed significantly better outcomes for individuals with a strong appreciation for music, though even those with lower appreciation experienced some positive effects. I’m eager to see how this research evolves, especially as the scientists plan to explore the impact of other sensory stimuli in future phases. At Andersen, we are fascinated with the latest healthcare technologies, and I think it is definitely worth diving deeper into this study (here is a link to the article).  We are also happy to help mental health companies and institutions implement their digital ideas and assist in effective and efficient digital transformation. Please feel free to contact me to have a meaningful conversation about digital mental health experience and about music too :).

    What is the Most Useless Invention in Pharma? Craig Lipset, the former Head of Clinical Innovation and Venture Partner at Pfizer, and one of the most inspiring people in the life sciences, believes that the most useless invention in Pharma is not Piracetam (or other synthetic nootropics), which have not been proven effective in clinical trials. Like Elon Musk, Craig considers standing, repetitive meetings for the sake of meetings to be the most useless invention in Pharma 🤼 At Andersen Healthcare, we agree with Craig and strive to be as productive as possible during our meetings, especially with clients. We ensure a clear and tangible agenda is on the table and invite only the relevant Andersen team members. A clear benefit of Andersen Lab's team, which consists of more than 3,500 members, is the accessibility of virtually any in-house specialist. If our healthcare clients need fintech advice (e.g., about integrating a health information system with a third-party payment solution) or information about embedding generative AI solutions into a client's system, etc., the Andersen team is ready to help immediately 🚁 We wish you a great and productive day! 😍 Please share your own productivity tips with us 🙂
