TP-Link Tapo

Coming from their old Kasa app I generally like the UI better here. Though somehow the video playback controls are much worse, making it even more difficult to precisely seek in your recordings. I am not sure why they felt the need to split their ecosystem but at least all of the old Kasa devices work here, though I did notice that you can't seem to set one up in this app you have to do so in the Kasa app first.

Can't trust it. I use this app to run the outlet that powers my water pump. It worked great for a couple of months until today, when it reported shutting the outlet down. It did not. I ended up with massive flooding. While it taught me a lesson about ensuring that everything is properly powered off and safe, it came at a cost and I now have days of cleaning ahead of me. Do not trust this app.

This camera actually performed better than I expected for the price, and the features actually worked! Being solar charged, I plugged it in to fully charge the battery, then left it to the solar panel. Recordings are smooth. The light and siren both work through the app, they are bright and loud. I can talk through the camera. Pretty cool. It's great for observing your selected location. It isn't pan/tilt/zoom. Keep that in mind. I bought 3 more after trying it out. It's that good.
