I've been learning English with Chris, for almost a year, and every lesson is awesome. He makes tricky stuff fun and really gets what I need to work on. Chris's insights and cultural tips make learning super effective and enjoyable. And the fact that he is a native English speaker doesn't leave any doubts in that our lessons are as close to the real language as possible. He's always on time, flexible, and dedicated. Chris is an absolutely brilliant speaker who is very educated, friendly, considerate, and professional. I would say he is a truly talented tutor, possessing a deep understanding of his students' needs and providing them with constructive feedback in a polite and inspiring manner. Giving lessons with conversation English usually focused around a general topic, or a specific one. Also we can use real world material such as newspaper articles to learn new vocabulary and phrases.
After an initial conversation about the goals of the student where we discuss the requirements for English at work, I plan a course focusing on relevant material.
I have been giving IELTS training to students for 5 years, focusing on the more difficult aspects of the exam such as writing and speaking. We practice these by using real exam questions from the recent round of IELTS exams, and focus on particular grammar and phrases needed for each topic of the exam.
After an initial introduction and discussion of the goals, whether they be work or exam related, I will create a custom course tailored to your need.
As I speak with a RP British accent, British English is my strength. We can cover many aspects, such as specific pronunciation using minimal pairs to establish a British accent from the foundation. Also, we can look at specific British idioms and phrases, including culture and news.
I have a fair amount of experience in preparing students for job interviews which are in English. We cover the specific questions that could be asked for that specific job, and also general phrases and vocabulary that can be used to give a strong impression in the interview.
