👩🏻💻🧑🏻💻📓✍🏻💡The first transnational meeting of the CURIOSOIL Project Community of Practice (CoP) brought together soil educators, scientists and policy advocates from across Europe on 9 September. 🌱CURIOSOIL Project, spearheaded by the Universidade de Aveiro (#Portugal), aims to foster #soilliteracy through innovative educational tools and collaborative efforts among diverse stakeholders. This inaugural event marked a significant step toward soil educators' engagement with the activities of the project. Abdul OTMAN, CURIOSOIL CoP Coordinator, hosted the meeting and highlighted the importance of collaboration within this growing community to pilot educational materials, share resources and provide feedback. 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗯𝘂𝗷𝗮𝗻𝗷𝗲 𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶 𝘇𝗮 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗱𝗯𝘂𝗷𝗮𝗻𝗷𝗲 𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶 𝗼 𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗵 📌 Prvega spletnega mednarodnega srečanje članov »𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 (𝗖𝗼𝗣)« v okviru CURIOSOIL Project, se je udeležilo približno 80 zainteresiranih o izobraževanju o tleh, inovacijah ter dogajanju znotraj tega 4-letnega projekta. 🍀 Med njimi so bili tudi predstavniki Fakultete za varstvo okolja (FVO), ki je slovenski projektni partner. 📌S tem dogodkom se je vzpostavila mreža za sodelovanje, katere namen je 𝙞𝙯𝙗𝙤𝙡𝙟š𝙖𝙩𝙞 𝙥𝙞𝙨𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙣𝙖 𝙥𝙤𝙙𝙧𝙤č𝙟𝙪 𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙥𝙤 𝙫𝙨𝙚𝙟 𝙀𝙫𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙞, v skupnost pa so vključeni strokovnjaki, izobraževalci in ostali navdušenci, ki si prizadevajo za boljše razumevanje zdravja tal in njihovo trajnostno rabo. 📌𝗖𝗨𝗥𝗜𝗢𝗦𝗢𝗜𝗟 𝗖𝗼𝗣 je platforma, ki združuje zainteresirane iz različnih področij in 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘷𝘢 𝘬 𝘳𝘢𝘻𝘷𝘰𝘫𝘶, 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘪𝘻𝘬𝘶š𝘢𝘯𝘫𝘶 𝘪𝘯 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘫𝘪 𝘱𝘰𝘣𝘶𝘥 𝘻𝘢 𝘪𝘻𝘰𝘣𝘳𝘢ž𝘦𝘷𝘢𝘯𝘫𝘦 𝘰 𝘵𝘭𝘦𝘩. CURIOSOIL Project is helping people understand the importance of soil and how to use it sustainably. SUPPORTING SOIL AND PEOPLE FOR BETTER AGRICULTURE 🌱 The Mediterranean region is making significant strides in sustainable agriculture. The Alliance for Mediterranean Nature & Culture, as highlighted in the recent IUCN Med two year report, focuses on the intersection of traditional agricultural practices, biodiversity, and sustainable land management across the Mediterranean. From the SOILGUARD project that sheds light on the importance of soil biodiversity, to the NATAE project fostering agroecological transitions in North Africa, and the NBSOIL Project pioneering holistic approaches to soil health through Nature-based Solutions (NbS), these initiatives are paving the way for resilient agricultural landscapes. The CURIOSOIL Project, launched in 2024, aims to boost soil curiosity and literacy, making soil health an engaging topic for all ages. These projects are demonstrating the crucial role of soil for biodiversity and agriculture. Together, these efforts promote the continued integration of traditional agricultural practices that sustain both biodiversity and local livelihoods.
