Sobre nós

LISAT PROJECT - LISBON'S NEW SATELLITE. 🛰 LISAT Project is the most recent project related to satellite construction. Our team is ready to start its journey in the realm of CubeSats by participating in the CubeSat Portugal competition. As part of the competition, the teams are tasked with two missions: The primary mission requires the satellite to do the minimum requirements expected for the satellite’s successful deployment. These requirements consider the assembly process, launch and deployment of the Engineering Model/Pre-Flight Model; Meanwhile, the Secondary Mission allows each team to showcase their legacy, offering an opportunity to think creatively about their contributions to the program. 👥 Our team is made up of 23 students from various universities, such as Técnico Lisboa, ISCTE, ISEL, FCUL and ISEG and 1 professor from Técnico Lisboa, organized into seven distinct departments: Structures and Thermal Systems, Attitude Determination and Control System, Command and Data Handling, Payload, Power Systems, Communications Systems and Operations & Marketing.

📆 On July 10, we were at Técnico Taguspark to watch the launch of ISTSat-1 aboard the Ariane 6 rocket. 🛰 We were present at this unique event, which not only marks the return of European rockets to space, but also the launch of the first 100% Portuguese nanosatellite, built entirely by engineers, teachers, researchers and students from Instituto Superior Técnico, part of the IST NanoSat Lab. With our presence at the event, we want to congratulate the IST NanoSat Lab team on the construction of the satellite, as well as its success in reaching 580 km, the altitude at which it will orbit the Earth. HISTORY: THE BEST WAY TO PREPARE FOR THE FUTURE Get to know a bit of the history of CubeSat, a nanosatellite that was created in 1999, by Jordi Puig-Suari and Bob Twiggs. CubeSats are used nowadays as an affordable way to send information to the Earth. Thanks to the ideas of these two professors, we can continue the legacy, by participating in CubeSat Portugal competition. Image: NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration #cubesat
