Dr. Meghana Gadgil is an academic physician and award-winning educator with interests in human-centered design, systems and quality improvement, global health, and climate change adaptation and mitigation in the health sector.  She is an Adjunct Assistant Professor UC Berkeley’s School of Public Health and is an Assistant Professor at UC San Francisco’s in the Department of Medicine. Her clinical practice is as a hospitalist at San Francisco General Hospital.

Biography

Dr. Meghana Gadgil MD, MPH, FACP is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the UC Berkeley School of Public Health in the Division of Health Policy and Management, and Assistant Professor at UCSF in the Department of Medicine.  She applies human-centered design frameworks to address complex, interdisciplinary, system-level problems in a variety of contexts, from quality improvement to health system resilience to climate change.  Dr. Gadgil has extensive experience working in diverse, low-resource settings around the world, including as a Fulbright Scholar in Bangladesh.  Dr. Gadgil is a member of 2nd Cohort of the National Academies’ New Voices.

Dr. Gadgil holds Bachelor’s degrees in Biochemistry and Conservation Resource Studies from UC Berkeley.  She earned her MD from the Jacobs School of Medicine at the University at Buffalo and trained in Internal Medicine at Stanford as a member of the Global Health Track. Dr. Gadgil also completed her MPH at UC Berkeley in Environmental Health Sciences.

Prior to joining the University of California, Dr. Gadgil spent five years on the faculty at Dell Medical School at UT Austin, where her work as an award-winning academic hospitalist was complemented by positions with the Design Institute for Health, the Value Institute, and with the Division of Global Health.
