The amp is crazy light (about 16 lbs) but has plenty of strong clean power. In Bridged Mode it will give you a whopping 1400 watts @ 4 ohms and 1100 watts @ 8 ohms. In Stereo Mode it will do 700 watts per channel @ 2 ohms and 550 watts per channel @ 4 ohms. One of the nice features I like about this amp is that there is a separate power switch for each power amp, so you can choose to use just a single power amp if you don’t need massive power or the extra headroom.

Several years ago Bass Player magazine did a "Solid-State Amps Under $1,500" review and shootout, written by the highly regarded Scott Malandrone. The big brother of the Stewart World 1.6, the Stewart World 2.1, walked off with a "Top Tone" award as well as a "Most Innovative" award. Bass Player Mag especially liked the smart "dual-mono" design, light weight and prodigious power of the Stewart 2.1 amp. On a scale of 5, this amp received a 4 for Overall Quality, a 5 for Portability, a 5 for sound, a 5 for Observed Power and a 5 for Value . . . for a total of 24 points, or a 4.8 point average. Out of 12 power amps that they reviewed (including but not limited to Ampeg, Carver, Crest, Crown, Hafler, Mackie and QSC amps), only the SWR Stereo 800 scored as high as the Stewart World 2.1. This was their comment and conclusion about this amp:
"Great lows that don’t sound spongy. Balanced upper mids and highs that are smooth with no limiting on string snaps. Ballsy punch for all styles. Dual mono design allows single channel operation."
