Welcome to the neighborhood. Watch your husband, watch your friends, and watch your back.

Cat Winthorpe has worked hard to get what she has: a gorgeous home; social standing; and William, her successful, handsome husband. Then a friendly new couple moves into the estate next door. While cautious, a good neighbor like Cat greets them with open arms and warm hospitality.

Neena Ryder isn’t a fellow lady of leisure. A life coach with off-the-rack dresses, personal issues, and a husband who hasn’t delivered, she’s anxious to move up in the world. This beautiful new town is a step in the right direction. It’s also making Neena aware of what she doesn’t have. Namely, William. When Neena’s infatuation escalates into obsession, it’s just a matter of eliminating a few obstacles to get the life she wants. The life next door.

As Neena’s secret fixation grows, so does her friendship with Cat. But beneath their cordial interactions is a wealth of temptations, secrets, and toxic jealousy. For both women, the desire for a perfect life can turn perfectly dangerous.

From the Publisher

We’ve all felt envy. Moments when we coveted what the people next door had. But in Every Last Secret, two women take their ambitions to another level. Mean Girls meets Fatal Attraction in this deviously delicious battle between Cat Winthorpe and Neena Ryder, two Silicon Valley wives who aren’t above seduction, lying, and blackmail to win the perfect life.

Cat has everything she wants, including a beautiful lavish life and a handsome husband, William. When a couple moves into the estate next door, like any good neighbor, Cat graciously welcomes them to the community. But the new wife has no intention of staying next door. Neena Ryder wants more than the life she has. She wants Cat’s life—starting with her husband. From the start of the novel, it’s clear this rivalry will have deadly consequences.

A. R. Torre is an author I’ve loved for a long time. Filled with drama and steamy suspense, her books have always captivated me. With
Every Last Secret, Torre is at the top of her game.

Pretty boring at first, then WOW!

Pretty boring at first, then WOW!

This book is a great book as a whole, however it took some time getting there. The first half is just rich housewife drama- Cat lives a luxurious life with her handsome husband who every female drools over. They live an upscale life, have upscale "friends", upscale vacations in their upscale vacation houses.. yadda yadda. But then Neena moves into the neighborhood and boy does she have baggage! She's been married to her husband for 20 years but cheats on him who knows how many times, all to her advantage. She's the "take what you want" kind of woman, who doesn't mind sleeping her way to the top. Her last employer paid her good hush money, and when she spots Cat's husband, William, she immediately plans on working him too. She wants to destroy their marriage and steal him for herself, that or she'll settle for a check.. whichever works in her favor. She's very manipulative, and is used to getting what she wants, and underestimates people a lot. She underestimated Cat, and that's where she went wrong!Great book, once you get past the first half..

The story is centered around two main characters: Cat Winthorpe and Neena Ryder. Cat is the epitome of the successful, elegant suburban wife, while Neena is her new, seemingly perfect neighbor with a hidden agenda. Neena's ambition is boundless, and she sets her sights on Cat's husband, William, a wealthy and influential man.

The narrative is structured to alternate between Cat and Neena's perspectives, providing readers with a nuanced understanding of their motivations and desires.

The authors writing is sharp and engaging, with a knack for building suspense. The narrative alternates between Cat's and Neena's perspectives, allowing readers to delve into their minds and understand their motivations. This dual narrative approach heightens the tension and provides a well-rounded view of the unfolding drama. The dialogue is crisp and realistic, adding to the authenticity of the characters' interactions.

A great read. I’m looking forward to the authors next book

You know what? I actually enjoyed this quite a bit. I wasn't sure that I was liking it in the beginning - none of the characters are particularly likable, the "Real Housewives" vibe wasn't 100% working for me, and I wasn't sure where it was heading. But the writing is strong and there's some compelling element that made me continue reading until all of a sudden I was invested in the story. There are twists and turns, lies, jealousy, cheating, and characters who are shades of gray. I felt tiny moments of empathy for the villains and saw glimpses of evil in the heroes, which made this an unpredictable, interesting read.

The story follows Cat and Neena, two very different wives. Neena is the kind of woman who has always wanted what others have - fine tuning her body to fit an ideal image, thinking of relationships as stepping stones, and cheating her way to the top. Cat seems to have an effortless happiness about her - she looks naturally beautiful, has a sexy, loving husband, and seems to be genuinely content. But things get complicated when Neena sets her sights on Cat's husband, and both of these women show their true colors.

The best part about this is the writing; the whole thing would fall apart without it. Torre is known for her romance and I will definitely be checking it out after reading this. She's got a great understanding of the complexities of relationships, and reading about Cat's marriage felt like looking at an office romance from a different angle. Yes, there's lying, cheating, and all kinds of other triggering content. This is NOT a romance in any way. But there are a few lightly explicit scenes and plenty of tension relating to sex. This is probably not the kind of book that I'd seek out in the future, but it was certainly an interesting read. You may or may not see the twists coming, but it will be an engaging journey to get there.

Cat and mouse between two devious women who were very much alike.
The Story was predictable, but enjoyable and easy read.

This is such a good read that builds up and gets more intense straight from the beginning. I couldn't put it down and kept telling myself, "Just one more chapter," and the next thing I knew, it was past 2:30 in the morning!

This is the second book of A. R. Torre's that I've read, which I began reading right after finishing reading The Good Lie. The Good Lie was so good that I was excited to read more from the author, and I'm so pleased that I did!

And I just saw a new release, The Last Party, so I'll be reading that next; all my book club "to be read" books waiting even longer because I know books from this author are worth it with all their unexpected twists and turns, making it difficult to pin down what is going to happen next.

A. R. Torre, if you ever read reviews, please never stop writing; you have been given such a gift and are so talented! Looking forward to more of your work!
