In this paper, we briefly introduce the user-reported critical incident method (originally called
semi-instrumented critical incident gathering [3]) for remote usability evaluation, and
describe results and lessons learned in its development and use. Our findings indicate that
users can, in fact, identify and report their own critical incidents.
