The SBTi’s Target Validation Team is looking for new team members who are passionate about corporate climate action and experienced in GHG emissions. The validation team is based in 7 countries and works remotely which creates an exciting virtual environment.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Conduct in-depth assessments of corporate emission reduction targets to ensure their alignment with the level of ambition set in the Paris Agreement and SBTi criteria;
  • Serve as the lead contact for corporations throughout target reviews to request additional information and clarification needed for target assessment, answer technical questions, and provide updates on the validation process;
  • Support with analyses of trends on corporate emission reduction targets reported through all partner organizations and the Science Based Targets initiative;
  • Update internal databases with company and target information.

The SBTi is seeking Validation Technical Customer Support Managers to help companies seeking technical assistance with the validation process and the application of SBTi standards. These positions will be critical in providing guidance on greenhouse gas accounting methodologies and ensuring that companies understand and comply with the requirements for setting science-based targets.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Technical Support: Provide prompt, accurate technical assistance to companies navigating the validation process for their science-based targets. Answer inquiries regarding the interpretation and application of SBTi standards and guidelines, including sector-specific standards and nuances.
  • Customer Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with companies undergoing validation. Proactively reach out to customers to offer support and guidance before and following the validation process.
  • Executive Communication: Engage directly with executives and sustainability managers at client companies, demonstrating a high level of professionalism and expertise. Conduct calls and meetings to address technical questions and provide strategic guidance on setting ambitious science-based targets.

Location: UK


The SBTi is looking for a Target Operations Associate to provide logistic, administrative, and customer-facing email support focused on the processing and eligibility of target and commitment applications. This position plays a key role in keeping up with demand as the number of companies joining the initiative continues to increase.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Perform due diligence on a high volume of registrations to determine the eligibility of companies to participate in the SBTi.

  • Process and organize company target submissions, focusing on Small & Medium Enterprises.

  • Review company information, including confidential documents, with attention to detail and utmost accuracy.



Location: México or the East Coast of the US


As a Data Management Associate at the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), you will contribute to ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of customer & target data within our systems. Daily, you can expect to perform routine data entry and updates in our dashboard and CRM, triage incoming data quality-related support tickets, prepare reports on SBTi performance, and support Quality Assurance procedures.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Improve overall data quality and consistency for SBTi Services

  • Perform routine data entry and updates in the CRM and associated databases.

  • Prepare CRM data quality for automation.

  • Support weekly Quality Assurance procedures and perform or delegate related clean-up tasks to relevant colleagues.

Location: UK, Germany, USA (East Coast), Mexico, France, France or Spain preferred.


The Science Based Targets initiative is seeking a skilled and dynamic candidate with experience in formal standard-setting and consultation processes to support SBTi’s Standards Teams (i.e. Corporate Net-Zero Team, Financial Institutions Net-Zero Team, and the Sectors Team).


Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the Standards Lead in guiding the different SBTi Standards Teams (i.e. for the Corporate Net Zero Standard, Financial Institutions Net Zero Standard, and different sector standards) in developing standards aligned with standard-setting best practices, the ISEAL Code, and SBTi Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Assist with the implementation of the SBTi’s vision of incorporating continuous improvement into its standards and its standards development process.

  • Effective collaboration and periodic alignment with the Standards Teams and the Quality Team to define processes and mechanisms that support effective standard development, i.e. the development of cross-standard/ overarching policies, procedures, and tools.

  • Contribute to the inter-operability of the different standards, to develop a holistic SBTi package of interrelated standards (e.g. alignment on content, structure, architecture, language use, etc).

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is looking for a Project Manager to join our growing Data & Technology Team. You will ensure key internal and external data and technology tools, products, and services are delivered on time, with high quality, and aligned to business and user needs.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Works closely with the data & technology team to support large / cross-functional projects with strategic importance to the organization.

  • Develops project plan, work estimation, and resourcing required to ensure project success.

  • Performs risk analysis, mitigation, and escalation to ensure stakeholders can react early in correcting the course of projects.

Are you a skilled Frontend Developer with experience in developing websites and digital platforms? The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is looking for an experienced Frontend Developer to join our growing Technology and Data Team.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Work with the Data & Technology Team to deliver updates to the custom Python Web application supporting the company’s submitting emission target validations.

  • Support the in-house development team in the management and continuous improvement of the SBTi website, working closely with subject matter experts and content leads to implement regular updates and enhancements.

  • Support the continuous improvement of the website and digital platforms, including content and performance, in line with user needs and developing business priorities.
