Microglia display an array of complex morphological phenotypes, and they mediate cellular responses through a range of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines. In addition, they are highly communicative and interact with various cell types in the CNS. Accordingly, it is highly challenging to measure transitions between homeostatic and disease-associated microglia as well as downstream effects on other cell types. Cellectricon has, after extensive efforts, developed multiple readouts and a multiparametric analysis pipeline which takes into account the full spectrum of phenotypic and functional data collected. Linnéa Mundin is part of our laboratory operations team, the heart of Cellectricon that keeps all assays running to deliver data for our clients. She just celebrated 1 year with us – the perfect time to get to know her better! Linnéa is a biomedical laboratory scientist who graduated from Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg in 2022. From the start of her studies, she had a large interest in cell culture and neurobiology. This interest led her to completing her bachelor thesis on the effect of BACE inhibitors on amyloid pre-cursor protein using iPSC-derived cortical neurons, in the lab of Henrik Zetterberg. After completing her studies, Linnéa spent one year working at the clinical bacteriology lab in Lund before joining Cellectricon. Here, she has worked with most of our neurobiology assays, encompassing tools such as functional genomics, optical electrophysiology and chimeric cell models, but she has had an extra focus on projects that rely on in vitro models using iPSC-derived neurons. Outside of work, Linnéa enjoys time with her dog Rocco, either on the sofa or in the forest, hanging out with friends or with the horses at the stables. We are very glad to have Linnéa as part of the team and enjoy the positive energy she brings to the office each day! #team #neuroscience #drugdiscovery #targetdiscovery #leaddiscovery #neurobiology #invitro #research

Progressive neuronal cell loss in the brain is the pathological hallmark of several neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and ALS. Animal and cellular modelling studies support that misfolded protein aggregation plays a crucial role in the neuronal vulnerability linked to neurodegeneration. Misfolded and aggregated proteins can affect many different intracellular mechanisms such as degradation pathways, mitochondrial function, membrane function and axonal transport. At Cellectricon, we create highly relevant disease models using different strategies to recapitulate various aspects of neurodegeneration, e.g. protein aggregation and cellular toxicity. By combining our expertise in proteopathy disease modelling with advanced technologies, such as high content imaging and optical electrophysiology, we create high quality assays for target and lead discovery. Our services have broad applications - from evaluation of a single gene or molecule to thousands of genes or compounds in a more regular screening context. Neuroplasticity plays a pivotal role in the development of neurological and psychiatric disorders. Identifying drugs that modulate neuroplasticity can potentially enhance or restore neural function, alleviating symptoms and slowing disease progression. Cellectricon’s suite of advanced in vitro models enables the study of various aspects of neuroplasticity, including synaptic, structural, and functional plasticity. The applications are extensive, ranging from identifying neuroplasticity-related targets to high-throughput drug discovery screens for optimizing drug candidates and building structure-activity relationships. We excel in creating tailor-made solutions and apply a highly interactive services process to ensure that our Clients’ goals are realized. Discover how our services can leverage neuroplasticity in drug discovery to accelerate the development of novel, safer, and more effective treatments for neurological and psychiatric conditions! 🌟 Learn more about our services on: https://lnkd.in/eXAuZJGv #neuroscience #drugdiscovery #targetdiscovery #leaddiscovery #neurobiology #invitro #research #neuroplasticity

Millions of people worldwide are affected by neurodegenerative disorders, primarily characterized by neuronal dysfunction and loss. Still, there are no effective treatments available and deeper knowledge about the early processes triggering the disease cascade is fundamental for development of therapeutics for these diseases. At Cellectricon, we help our clients to gain insight about the early processes triggering the disease cascade by applying in vitro models to investigate how different cell types, genes and cellular mechanisms are involved in disease progression. Our ND service module is based on complex CNS disease models where aspects of neurodegeneration, such as protein aggregation and cellular toxicity, are replicated in vitro. Gene silencing or overexpression technologies can be used to investigate which genes and pathways that directly or indirectly influence the pathogenesis of the disease process. We are excited to introduce our imaging and high content specialist Maitrayee Sardar Sinha! Maitrayee joined Cellectricon earlier this year as a Senior Scientist. With a robust background in neuroscience and extensive experience in both industry and academia, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our team. Maitrayee obtained her PhD in Biochemistry, focusing on mitochondrial dysfunction in brain aging and Alzheimer’s disease. She further honed her expertise during her postdoctoral research at Linköping University with Prof. Martin Hallbeck in Sweden, where she investigated the mechanism of extracellular vesicle transmission of toxic proteins in Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease using CRISPR-Cas9 modified stem cell-derived cortical neurons. In 2020, Maitrayee joined AstraZeneca in Gothenburg as a Senior Scientist & Imaging Specialist, where she led multiple high-throughput screening projects involving iPSC-derived 3D organoids. Outside of her professional life, Maitrayee enjoys traveling to different countries, exploring diverse cultures, and savouring various cuisines. We are excited to have Maitrayee on board and look forward to the innovative contributions she will make to our team. Her extensive expertise will be invaluable as we continue to push the boundaries of neuroscience research and drug discovery. Join us in welcoming Maitrayee to the Cellectricon family! #team #neuroscience #drugdiscovery #targetdiscovery #leaddiscovery #neurobiology #invitro #research
