H&M Group ranks #3 for its public disclosure of climate and energy related actions in Fashion Revolution’s latest report, What Fuels Fashion?. “We’re pleased to be recognised for our transparency, but we know the work doesn’t stop there. Transparency is crucial for the industry, and at H&M Group we remain committed to increasing our public disclosure across all our sustainability work. If all brands shared more about their decarbonisation approach and what they’ve learned along the way, we can make better progress. We need to be brave to test, learn and innovate together”, comments Leyla Ertur, Sustainability Director at H&M Group. The report rated 250 fashion brands and retailers. H&M Group scored 61%, ranking well in accountability, financing decarbonisation and advocacy. Welcome to Italy and Spain, ARKET! Continuing to expand across Europe, ARKET is now open in Milan and Barcelona with the full range of ready-to-wear and accessories for women and men, childrenswear, body care and interior design. Welcome to our newest investment: Rondo Energy. The company makes heat batteries that turn intermittent electricity into continuous, high-temperature heat and power, perfect for textile factories. “Rondo is H&M Group Venture's first investment in decarbonisation technology. The company's thermal battery energy storage has the potential to help factories electrify, which is key to achieving our climate targets. We look forward to working closely with Rondo and the broader ecosystem in scaling decarb tech”, says Laura Coppen, Investment Manager at H&M Group Ventures. This latest investment will support our ongoing work to decarbonise our supply chain. The next step is to explore how Rondo’s technology could be used in our supplier factories. #Investment #HMGroup #HMGroupVentures #Decarbonisation #Climate #SupplyChain

We are beyond proud to announce that we are working on a project in Bangladesh to help suppliers decarbonise with BESTSELLER, Gap Inc. and MANGO. Producing materials and manufacturing products generates most of our emissions. However, we don’t own our suppliers and we share them with other brands. Therefore the best way to reduce emissions in our supply chain is to work with other apparel companies. This is where the Future Supplier Initiative steps in. They offer brands a platform to collaborate on financing decarbonisation in the supply chain. “I’m very happy to see Bestseller, Mango and Gap Inc. joining the Future Supplier Initiative, powered by The Fashion Pact, Apparel Impact Institute, Guidehouse and DBS Bank. The initiative offers a mechanism for collective financing, enabling both brands and suppliers to get closer to Science Based Targets, with a focus on using less energy and cleaner energy. We encourage others to join us to continue to drive change in our industry”, comments Adam Karlsson, CFO, H&M Group. More brands are welcome to join FSI and the idea is to open projects in other apparel manufacturing countries such as Vietnam, India, China, Italy and Turkey. We’ve been welcoming journalists from across Europe to our showrooms and headquarters in a series of roundtables, tours and presentations over the past few weeks. Discussions centred around our sustainability work, particularly our journey to become a circular business and reduce our climate impact. By inviting different stakeholders to our locations, we can help build an open dialogue and share knowledge with local key journalists. #Sustainability #HMGroup #StakeholderEngagement #Stockholm #Paris #Copenhagen

We’re taking part in a new project investigating how to better scale up services like rental, resale and repair. The Fashion ReModel, an Ellen MacArthur Foundation demonstration project, works with leading brands to find solutions and unlock barriers to rolling out circular business models, which will bring the possibility for fashion to decouple growth from production. “We’re looking forward to working with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation again. Their previous project, The Jeans Redesign, pushed us to explore what circular design could mean for our product assortment and now The Fashion ReModel is set to do the same with circular business models. The opportunity presented by decoupling the fashion industry’s growth from resource use is huge and this project can bring better understanding of how to further scale these models”, Leyla Ertur, Director of Sustainability, H&M Group. H&M Group, plus our brands ARKET, COS and Weekday, will be working alongside Arc'teryx, Primark, Reformation and Zalando on the demonstration project. We can’t wait to get started! #HMGroup #ARKET #COS #Weekday #CircularFashion #CircularBusinessModels #EllenMacArthurFoundation #TheFashionReModel #TheJeansRedesign

H&M Group came out top in a new report by the environmental organisation Stand.earth that assesses the progress brands are making in reducing emissions and transitioning to renewable energy. Clean Energy Close Up evaluated the work of 11 top fashion brands. According to Stand.earth we were awarded the highest total score because of our leading supply chain emissions and renewable electricity targets, and for offering the most tangible financial support, supplier engagement and effective supply chain advocacy. “At H&M Group, we are committed to cutting our absolute emissions and achieving net-zero by 2040. The results of Stand.earth’s report shows that we are heading in the right direction. But, there’s still much more to do, both as a company and as an industry. By working together, we could have a deeper impact at a faster rate”, comments David Dahl, Head of Climate & Nature If you want to find out more about what we’re doing to reduce our climate impact, download our Climate Transition Plan https://lnkd.in/gxnBaRws Read the full Stand.earth report here https://lnkd.in/gh9Pq6RQ #Climate #EmissionsReduction #CleanEnergyCloseUp #HMGroup
