We provide employers with strategies, education, and tools to successfully work with DEI, and we run Sweden’s largest mentoring program for individuals with a foreign background and post-secondary education.

Each week, we’ll feature one of our amazing colleagues, from Mitt Liv’s beginnings to today. This week, meet Cecilia - our Communications Manager! 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹? I’m responsible for communication and marketing for our consulting services and mentoring program, operationally and strategically. My work spans a wide range of tasks, including managing social media, press releases, newsletters, our website, videos, podcast, and so on! I oversee recruitment of mentees and mentors for the mentoring program, the creation of our impact report, and more. I collaborate closely with our sales team on sales activities and materials, and also coordinate parts of our communication within our network of partners. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗶𝘁𝘁 𝗟𝗶𝘃? Five eventful years! It’s incredible to see how much has happened over these years, both in the perception of DEI and in how Mitt Liv and our impact have developed. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗘𝗜 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝘆? Equity is vital to me - ensuring equal treatment, access, and opportunities for everyone. Too often, unnecessary barriers in society and organisations prevent certain groups from fully participating and contributing their skills. Growing up in a relatively homogenous environment in Sweden, then living abroad and working in international contexts, also sparked my interest in cultural awareness and the importance of questioning our perspectives and mental mechanisms. Recognizing and challenging our biases, prejudices, and norms is something we can all do to create more inclusive spaces around us! 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸? What I most enjoy is that Mitt Liv removes barriers that positively impact people’s lives and well-being. Whether it’s supporting someone secure the right job through our mentoring program or seeing a CEO or leader take action to transform organizational processes through DEI, being part of those journeys is incredibly rewarding.     From Sri Lanka to Sweden: Thathsara’s journey through Mitt Liv’s mentoring program After a challenging journey that began in Sri Lanka and continued through education and a career in New York, Thathsara Palliyaguru found herself in Sweden, searching for a career in business. However, breaking into the Swedish job market proved difficult.     I am humbled to have recently earned my Mentorship Certificate: Mentoring program certificate from Mitt Liv AB (svb)! Having started my journey as a mentee years ago, it’s incredibly rewarding to now come full circle as a mentor. Special thanks to Siyana Sokolova and Sofia Appelgren who have been a part of my journey! This journey has been a deeply rewarding experience, both gratifying and humbling, filled with opportunities to inspire and be inspired by so many talented individuals. Mentorship has shown me the profound impact we can have on each other's growth. While I've had the privilege of guiding others, I’ve also gained valuable insights and lessons along the way. Each week, we’ll feature one of our amazing colleagues, from Mitt Liv’s beginnings to today. This week, meet Siyana - Project Manager for Competence Provision! 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹? I lead initiatives to address skills gaps and enhance organizational capabilities through strategic competence development. I work closely with clients and recruitment services to tailor solutions that meet their specific needs, while also managing key aspects of the mentoring program to ensure its success. Additionally, I drive product development, refining recruitment programs to keep pace with industry requirements. My role involves continuous collaboration with stakeholders and fostering innovation to deliver impactful results. Being part of Mitt Liv’s team, I’m passionate about fostering growth, enhancing opportunities, and contributing to our shared mission of making a positive difference. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗶𝘁𝘁 𝗟𝗶𝘃? For just over 9 years. It’s been an incredible journey, seeing the tangible difference we make in people’s lives. I’ve witnessed firsthand how our work creates real opportunities for individuals with foreign backgrounds, and being part of that change is something I’m truly proud of. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗘𝗜 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝘆? Inclusion is where my heart truly lies within DEI. I’ve always believed that it’s not enough to just have diversity on paper—we need to create spaces where everyone feels genuinely included and valued. For me, inclusion is about ensuring that every voice, regardless of background, has a seat at the table and is empowered to contribute. This belief drives my work every day, knowing that when people feel included, they can bring their full selves to work and thrive. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸? What I love most about my work is the connections I make with people from diverse backgrounds. There’s something incredibly special about seeing a mentee grow in confidence and start to realize their potential in the Swedish job market. That moment when someone tells you they’ve landed their dream job or finally feel at home in their new environment - it’s those moments that make everything worth it. The sense of making a meaningful difference in someone’s life is incredibly rewarding and keeps me motivated. 📸 𝗔 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝘂𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂: I’m an amateur photographer! I love capturing candid moments during my travels, and some of my photos have been featured in a few local exhibitions in my home country, Bulgaria. It’s a hobby that allows me to see the world from different perspectives, which I think also enhances my approach to work in diversity and inclusion. Bonus fun fact: I’m a lefty!

Marc is a dynamic leader with a deep passion for DEI, having most recently served as Diversity Officer at Siemens Switzerland. He also founded and led his own social media and public relations agency, XPLICIT GmbH, and previously held key roles at the telecom provider UPC as Head of PR and Deputy Head of Communications. Each week, we’ll feature one of our amazing colleagues, from Mitt Liv’s beginnings to today. This week, meet Viktoria - Head of Mitt Liv's mentoring program! 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹?   As the Head of Mitt Liv's Mentoring Program, I oversee and develop Sweden’s largest mentoring program for academics with foreign backgrounds. Our program has an impressive success rate, with 51% of participants securing a job during or after the program, thanks to our dedicated mentors and staff. The Mitt Livs Chans team ensures the program can grow and provide opportunities to as many people as possible. I help our partners and clients implement mentorship, creating change agents within their organizations and fostering a culture of belonging and learning. Another part of my role is to explore and expand international collaborations. I am also part of Mitt Liv's management team. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗶𝘁𝘁 𝗟𝗶𝘃? It has been 9 years since I joined Mitt Liv, and it is still fun! 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗘𝗜 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝘆? I believe all DEI aspects are important, but today I choose belonging. Belonging is a crucial aspect of DEI that focuses on creating an environment where everyone feels accepted, valued, and included. For example, employees are more likely to stay with a company where they feel their contributions are recognized. Belonging is about creating a culture where everyone feels they can be their authentic selves. Growing up, I often felt like I didn’t belong anywhere. I was caught between two societies, each with its own set of discriminations, and I never felt fully accepted by either. However, this journey taught me an important lesson. Today, I feel liberated from the opinions of others and have found a sense of belonging within myself. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲?   Development is my driving force. I love to learn, but I also enjoy helping others grow and achieve their goals. That’s why I find my current role so fulfilling, because I get to do both. I have a rare opportunity to influence the labor market and individuals’ lives in my role! 🏊♀️ 𝗔 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝘂𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂:   I’ve done a lot of fun things in my life! I jumped into a river when I was 11 without knowing how to swim, just to see if I could find a way out. I tried hypnosis instead of a painkiller after cutting my leg during a vacation (though that wasn’t a choice, the hospital didn’t have painkillers, so I took the only option available).
