Sony Group Distinguished Engineer Makiko Kan has won a distinguished service award from Japan Association of Technology Executives (JAOTEX). This award recognizes individuals and organizations that have significantly supported the development and expansion of female engineering talent in Japan. Since joining Sony, Kan has been involved in the research and development of error-correcting codes, made proposal LDPC codes and related technologies for digital broadcasting systems worldwide, and has been awarded many standard-essential patents. As a top engineer and unique role model, she has been actively involved in developing and increasing the number of female engineers at Sony. Internally, through mentoring activities and networking events, and externally, by speaking at forums and serving as a member of the judging panel for the Sony Women in Technology Award with Nature, she has motivated many female engineers.

ソニーグループ Distinguished Engineerの菅 真紀子(Makiko Kan) が一般社団法人技術同友会より「第10回女性技術者育成功労賞」を受賞しました。 本賞は、女性技術者育成において顕著な成果を上げた個人(男女を問わず)及び組織の功績をたたえる目的で2014年から実施されています。 菅は当社へ入社以来、誤り訂正符号の研究開発に従事し、全世界のデジタル放送方式に規格を提案し必須特許を多数獲得するなどの実績を収めてきました。 ソニーグループ全体のトップ技術者かつ唯一無二のロールモデルとして、女性技術者の育成やその人数を増やすために積極的に活動してきました。社内ではメンター活動やネットワーキングイベントなどを通じて、社外では、他企業の女性技術者と共にフォーラムに登壇する他、Sony Women in Technology Award with NatureのJudging Panelメンバーを務めるなど多くの女性技術者のモチベーション向上に貢献してきたことが高く評価されました。
