Our Speech Pathologist and Assistive Technology Consultant, Charlene Cullen, worked with the Tobii Dynavox China Team, attending the 7th International Summit on Speech Language Pathology in Changsha, Hunan Province of China. The conference is a four-day event with hundreds of attendees. The team presented a workshop titled: ‘Successfully implementing AAC with children with ASD. During this 4-hour AAC Workshop, the team had the chance to discuss some key strategies for successful implementation to encourage children with ASD to build their social communication, grow their language, and promote their early literacy skills at home and in the classroom. A thorough introduction to TD Snap and TD Touch devices was presented to the attendees for setting up and modelling. Over 35 SLPs/consultants from 15 cities, hospitals, and institutions attended the workshop. Cha also gave an informative presentation on ‘Best practice in AAC with children with ASD’ on Sunday 7th July to about 80 attendees. A highlight of the whole experience was that Charlene was given the honour of presenting gift bags and certificates to SLP students at the opening ceremony on Saturday 8th July. The students were commended for participating in voluntary work in their field. #SpeechPathology #AssistiveTechnology #LinkAssistive #CharleneCullen #TobiiDynavox #AAC #ASD #SLP #SpeechLanguagePathology #Changsha #HunanProvince #TDsnap #TDtouch #EarlyLiteracy #SocialCommunication #LanguageDevelopment #SLPWorkshop #BestPractice #ProfessionalDevelopment #InclusiveEducation #SpecialEducation #China
