How can AI make more emotionally resonant, rewarding and retentive customer experiences? We brought together a panel of experts to discuss ways emotive AI is changing the game. Alejandro Matamala-Ortiz (Co-Founder and CDO at Runway), Carly Burton (Director of GenAI Product Design at Meta), Joe Preston (VP of Product and Design at Intuit), Maz Karimian (Head of Strategy at ustwo) and Saira Jesani (Deputy ED Data & Trust Alliance), moderated by Farrah Bostic, founder of The Difference Engine, provided some key insights. Generative AI is expanding what it means to “customise” for users. It’s not just understanding preferences. It’s helping brands adapt the ways they speak in different contexts and for different users while retaining their brand voice – in other words, the kind of dynamism humans have in communicating. As always, principles and trust need to be at the heart of building sustainable AI experiences. The devil’s in the data. Be careful to choose the right third-party model or build the best partnership model to align with your business’s values. We’re still in early days. So we don’t have established best practices, like the way to label AI-driven experiences. A major challenge we need to figure out: how to balance indicators of AI, like moments of friction, with enjoyable interaction.
