The approach of using fast-time simulations to test and evaluate ideas for airport or airspace improvements has been done for years. Having carried out hundreds of simulation projects using this approach, DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH decided to expand their use by performing fast-time simulations with real-world data. This was achieved with the AirTOP WIZer ACC tool, which allows operational staff to carry out simulations and assess live air traffic and flow management, to help improve performance.
