Brightest Star Spotlight

Mary Eileen Twombly

Eileen has volunteered at the Mahoney House in Salmon for five years, five days a week, six hours a day, and is instrumental in ensuring the office is clean, tidy, and organized so staff can focus on the critical work they provide for those they serve. She also assists in community outreach events by distributing flyers throughout the community, volunteers at community fundraisers, and most importantly is a recognized and friendly face to everyone at the Mahoney House.

A big part of the Mahoney Houses’ work is community outreach and engagement, including teaching social and emotional skills a the local schools. Eileen, who is deaf and fluent in sign language has been eager to assist in these outreach efforts and took the opportunity to teach students some signed. The students loved learning from her.

Johanna with the Mahoney House stated, “Eileen has learned so much about what we do which has been fun to watch. We have all felt honored and it is a great privilege to get to work side by side with her every day and learn about the culture of the deaf and hard of hearing community. Eileen is eager and a great asset to our organization, we are very thankful for all she does for us.”
