Was glad to join the IVAS-IVSC Business Valuation Conference today. Valuation is an important part of the work that we do in Singapore. This year’s theme, ‘Intangible Impact: Unlocking Business Value in the New Economy’ is highly relevant and timely. New trends, like AI and sustainability present new opportunities for the valuation industry. I announced several initiatives that will help valuers with their work, including: - the intangible assets valuation guidelines aligned to the International Valuation Standards (IVS), - an updated Chartered Valuer and Appraiser (CVA) Programme, and - a new online professional development course on the Intangibles Disclosure Framework, which ISCA, IVAS and IPOS collaborated on. The business valuation landscape will continue to evolve, and I urge businesses to continue keeping a close tab on developments in order to seize the exciting opportunities in the horizon! At last night's Annual Dinner, we also took the occasion to honour our leaders in the accounting profession, with the conferment of Special Appreciation Awards to those who have made profound impact on the profession. 🏆 We are proud to accord Mr Ong Khiaw Hong and the Accountancy Workforce Review Committee (AWRC) with the Special Appreciation Awards, in recognition of their contributions to the accounting profession. Mr Ong Khiaw Hong made significant contributions to the sector during his tenure as the Chief Executive of ACRA - Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority. Since 2017, he led ACRA’s transformation into a digital and data-driven organisation, and played a pivotal role in facilitating a seamless transition for ISCA to administer the SCAQ. His efforts ensured that the SCAQ remained relevant and attractive to aspiring accountants. 🌟 The AWRC (represented by Co-Chair Mr Chaly Mah), was set up in 2022, to address the manpower challenges of the accountancy sector and recommend strategies to ensure a robust pool of accountancy talents to meet industry needs. The AWRC have been stellar in their contributions, in addressing manpower challenges in the accountancy sector, enhancing its attractiveness, and ensuring a steady pipeline of young accountants for the future. They have played a pivotal role in shaping the future of the accounting profession in Singapore, ensuring its alignment with the evolving business and technological landscape! 💪 Congratulations to Mr Ong Khiaw Hong and the AWRC! #ISCA #DifferenceMakers #Accountancy #Accounting #ISCAAnnualDinner2024 Teo Ser Luck | Eng Beng Choo | Judy Ng | Goh Jocelyn | Boon Teck Lee | Eric Choo | Wee Kwang K. | Him Chuan LIM | William Lim | Lo Mun Wai | Fook Chuen Ow | Cyndi Pei | Yeow Chung (YC), SONG | Helmi Talib | Kuang Hui Tan | Maria T. | Don Wee 黄文鸿 | Christopher Wong Fann Kor | Suat Lay Soh | Zoey Xie | Qiu Lin Fua | Wei-Chieh Soo | Wei Luo Tan | Wai Geat Kang | Edmund Liu | Terence Lam
