  • Incorporating whole life carbon considerations into a building’s design and operations is one key strategy to lower a building’s carbon footprint and obtain super low energy certification and beyond. This approach is essential for advancing Singapore's long-term decarbonisation goals and aligning with the Singapore Green Building Masterplan's objective of reaching 80% energy efficiency by 2030. Samwoh Corporation Pte Ltd is taking its green journey to another level with its first positive energy industrial building in Singapore. Known as the Samwoh Smart Hub, the project was awarded the SGBC-BCA Leadership in Sustainability Awards 2024 under the Building Project Leadership in Sustainability (Carbon Performance) category. The Samwoh Smart Hub is an example of how the BE industry continues to push the boundaries for energy efficiency by tapping on initiatives like the Green Building Innovation Cluster (GBIC) Programme. Swipe to find out the technologies Samwoh adopted to reduce the building’s energy consumption, and how much carbon footprint was reduced. #BuildSG #BCA #Sustainability #GBIC #LSA2024 #SuperLowEnergy #GreenBuildings #GreenMark

  • As global temperatures rise, building owners and developers need to ensure that cooling needs are met sustainably. Traditional approaches to cooling buildings has proven to be both challenging and costly due to high energy consumption. To address this, the Green Buildings Innovation Cluster (GBIC) Programme has funded the development of the Airbitat Dedicated Outdoor Air System (DOAS) with Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) by ST Engineering’s Urban Solutions. This aims to enhance the energy efficiency of cooling systems in commercial buildings. Swipe to find out how the Airbitat DOAS with ERV works, and the potential benefits from adopting such an innovative solution! If you are passionate about co-creating innovative solutions, take part in the Research & Innovation (R&I) Challenge Call for Decarbonisation under the GBIC Programme. Your collective efforts will contribute to our goal of achieving an 80% improvement in energy efficiency from 2005 levels by 2030. • Accurate and detailed BIM models are crucial for enhancing project collaboration and efficiency. Providing precise BIM models with tender stage data can save resources, reduce abortive work, and improve project delivery. However, contractors face challenges in developing such models, especially in Design & Build Contracts. Progressive contractors are addressing this by proactively establishing internal BIM modelling guidelines. For example, OBAYASHI SINGAPORE PRIVATE LIMITED developed their Smart BIM Standard (SBS) to clarify required inputs and streamline BIM model development, benefiting projects like Bird Paradise and Netlink Data Centre. Swipe to learn more about the benefits of working with detailed BIM models. Industry-led initiatives such as these highlight the importance of firms taking the lead in overcoming challenges, ultimately benefitting both firms and projects. The excitement around CORENET X is building! 🚀 We have launched CORENET X Connect – a series of engagements designed to connect industry professionals and share valuable insights as we prepare for CORENET X. At a recent session on 7 Aug, more than 40 attendees had the opportunity to hear directly from a firm involved in a pilot project via the Direct Submission Process (DSP) under CORENET X. While it is not mandatory to submit in BIM for projects less than 5,000sqm. Ar. Shiuh Liang Jason Lee who opted to adopt BIM for projects less than 5,000sqm, shared his insights on the benefits of early preparation for CORENET X. His experience underscores the importance of starting early and reaping the full benefits of upstream collaboration. In addition, Ms Lee Yen Chin shared about how companies can navigate change in preparation for CORENET X. Participants also engaged in a focus group discussion exploring strategies to maximise benefits and better prepare for the change. We are grateful to the speakers, Ar. Jason Lee, Principal Architect at Absolute X and Ms. Chin Lee Yen, Associate Client Partner at Korn Ferry, for generously sharing their insights and advice on embracing change and preparing for CORENET X. Developed collaboratively by industry and agencies, CORENET X leverages digital technologies to foster collaboration among stakeholders in the Built Environment, aiming to revolutionise construction practices. We would like to invite more projects to join us in this endeavour during the voluntary phase which started on 1 June 2024. Interested firms can submit their requests at https://go.gov.sg/cxbeta. #BuildSG #CORENETX #BCA #BuiltEnvironment #Digitalisation #MyBEITM
