As the world 🌏 celebrates the closing of the #Paris2024 Olympics, Berge Bulk seafarers are proudly celebrating the winners of our very own #BergeBulkOlympics🏆. For four weeks, our crew took on challenges that tested their physical abilities, teamwork, and the unique skills they've honed at sea 🌊 . The ‘sports’ included a nautical knot tying contest, a push up marathon, a stationary bike race, and a fire-suit relay, just to name a few. With 36 vessels competing, the #BergeBulkOlympics was marked by great energy and extraordinary skill. The competition was intense, but the sense of unity and determination displayed was truly inspiring! Congratulations to Berge Heng Shan for winning gold 🥇, followed closely by Berge Kibo with Silver 🥈, and Berge Mulhacen securing Bronze 🥉! #BergeBulk #MovingMountains #WellAtSea #Olympics #OlympicGames #Teamwork #Seafarers #Wellbeing #BergeBulkOlympics

🌊 Committed to Keeping Our Oceans Clean and Healthy 🌊 For the second year in a row, colleagues from Berge Bulk’s Singapore office spent a day volunteering in Batam, Indonesia to clean-up the Sungei Bengkong river with our partner Seven Clean Seas. 53 Berge Bulk colleagues joined forces with 14 Seven Clean Seas team members to pick up a shocking 1,144 kilograms of plastic waste in just two hours. Following the morning clean-up, the group spent the afternoon at the Seven Clean Seas Material Recovery Facility, where they sorted, cleaned, and processed the waste collected. They also built a floating river barrier, which will be used to intercept plastic waste in the Sungei Bengkong river and prevent it from entering the ocean. We are proud to continue our partnership with such an impactful organisation and look forward continued collaboration in the future! Let’s continue to #LoveOurOcean and keep it clean for future generations. #BergeBulk #BlueMatters #SevenCleanSeas #OceanCleanup #Sustainability #MarinePlastic #PlasticWaste #SingleUsePlastic #EnvironmentalImpact

We are excited to announce the successful installation of four carbon-saving Rotor Sails on Berge Neblina, our 388,000 DWT Valemax Ore Carrier. 🚢 By leveraging wind energy, Berge Neblina will see increased efficiency by reducing the load on the main engine while maintaining speed, thereby substantially reducing fuel consumption and cutting carbon emissions. Designed by ANEMOI , these sails can fold flat to ease port operations. Wind technology is an important component of Berge Bulk’s #MaritimeMarshallPlan for decarbonisation. This news follow’s our recent installation of four BARTech WindWings on Berge Olympus last October. Wishing Berge Neblina smooth sailing on her first wind assisted voyage to Brazil! 🔥 Did you know that household cooking with solid fuels accounts for 2-3% of global carbon emissions? That’s equivalent to the emissions of the entire global shipping industry! Traditional cooking methods also present several other challenges... 1. Indoor Air Pollution: Traditional wood-burning cookstoves cause 4 million premature deaths yearly due to indoor air pollution, especially affecting women and children. 2. Health Impacts: Prolonged exposure to smoke from traditional cookstoves increases respiratory infections and pregnancy risks. 3. Environmental Degradation: Wood fuel use leads to deforestation, habitat loss, and biodiversity loss. 4. Social and Economic Impacts: Dependence on wood fuel causes poverty and gender inequality, preventing education and economic opportunities. To address these challenges, Berge Bulk has invested in a clean cookstove project with Eco Act and local partner, Meensou India. ✨ As part of this partnership, the project will distribute 14,000 clean cookstoves to the villagers of Kesinga, in the state of Odisha, India. 🔥 These modern cooking devices are designed to consume less firewood, minimise smoke, improve indoor air quality, reduce respiratory illness, enhance safety in the kitchen, and save time for women in the community. 🛠️ The project is also creating jobs for local people who manufacture and distribute the cookstoves, contributing to economic empowerment and sustainable development. 🌱 We recently visited the project to meet the team from Meensou India and speak with the local community members who are using the cookstoves. We're encouraged by the impact that this project is having, both on the environment and on the villagers of Kesinga. 📸 Here are a few of our favourite photos from the visit. Stay tuned for more updates on our journey! #MovingToZero #MaritimeMarshallPlan #CleanCookStoves #CookStoves #ClimateAction #CarbonReduction🌍🌱
