About us

Business China Youth Chapter (BCYC) was founded in 2010 by a voluntary group of youths. The chapter envisions to be the leading Singapore-based community that inspires youths to be China-savvy and facilitate their connections with China. Supported by Business China, BCYC has a vibrant calendar of activities which serve the needs of the BCYC community. BCYC provides a platform for a selected group of bilingual youths to interact with other like-minded peers from various institutions. In addition, closed-door sharing sessions with our prominent local business leaders and international high-profile speakers are also organised to facilitate trans-generational exchange and knowledge transfer. Mission Launched in November 2007, Business China’s mission is to nurture an inclusive bilingual and bicultural group of Singaporeans through extensive use of the Chinese language as the medium of communication, so as to sustain our multi-cultural heritage, and to develop a cultural and economic bridge linking the world and China. Vision Harnessing the support of the public sector and private enterprises, Business China aims to strengthen the ties between Singapore and China, so as to sustain and grow the global connectivity of Singapore through: • Becoming the leading bilingual and bi-cultural channel for closer collaboration with China. • Establishing a widespread appreciation and acceptance of Chinese language and culture, within the multi-ethnic, multi-cultural mosaic that is fundamental to the Singapore identity. • Nurturing young Singaporeans to develop deeper links with China, engaging it in all facets including economic, cultural and diplomatic spheres.

  • Here it is: the concluding post for our trip to Yunnan! 👏 In our second leg in Kunming, we explored the Yunnan Provincial Museum, Yunnan University, and Kunming University of Science and Technology, and also watched the magnificent cultural musical -“Shangrila-Dynamics Yunnan". We witnessed the resilience and determination of Yunnan people in pursuit of knowledge and progress, and learn to appreciate Yunnan's rich history and culture better after these exposure. We also savoured traditional Yunnan cuisine, alongside a formal dinner with the Yunnan Foreign Friendship Association, at which we built meaningful connections and discussed potential future collaborations. Most importantly, we visted several Yunnan enterprises, witnessing the region's ambitious and innovative spirit, and deepened our understanding of renewable energy investments, strategic expansions, business challenges and much more! It is indeed a fun and fruitful trip for all of us. Thank you Business China for the support and our Organising Committee for making it happen! 🚅 Swipe to see the trip specifics! • Our Singapore students studying in Beijing had a great chat with Mr Zi Heng LIM from Enterprise Singapore over brunch on 25 May! 🇸🇬🇨🇳 Drawing on his bicultural education and work experiences, Mr Lim answered questions about his role in connecting Singaporean companies with local partners to explore new business opportunities in the market and offered valuable advice for students looking to enter the China circuit. Despite working in the country for some time, Mr Lim highlighted that China is a vast country where continuous learning is essential. The students had a fruitful session with many takeaways! We would like to thank Mr Lim once again for his heartfelt sharing, and for being our very first guest on BCYC Xpertise China!👏🏻👏🏻 BCYC Xpertise China is a new programme specially curated for Singaporean students and young working professionals in China. At every session that runs for 1.5 hours, a young executive in the mid to high-level position or an entrepreneur from Singapore or China will be invited to share with a small group of participants, fostering candid exchanges and meaningful discussions.🥳

  • We are extremely grateful to have invited Lim Chiang Fong 林昌鸿, Managing Director, Chinese and Technology Corporates, OCBC Bank, to attend our closed-door dialogue session yesterday. 🙌 Amidst increasing relevance of China and heightening geopolitical tensions in Asia-Pacific region, Mr Lim’s insights were extremely valuable to BCYC members. Having travelled to over 50 cities in China, Mr Lim shared his enriching experiences with us. From his sharing, our members gained new insights on the vastness of China, and the differences in cultural elements throughout different regions in China. After his sharing, our members had the opportunity to have a dialogue with Mr Lim, moderated by our member, Sophia. Key questions like technological developments and opportunities in China, geopolitical concerns, Singapore’s relations with China, the US, and ASEAN, were brought up. Mr Lim also shared about how Singaporean youths can upskill themselves to sustain our comparative advantage in international relations.💼 Through this event, our members have gained unique insights and synergy to continue engaging with China and our global partners as Singaporeans🇸🇬. We would like to extend our utmost gratitude to Mr Lim for gracing our dialogue session. ✨

  • An athletic touch to the 2nd BCYC Xchange (China) After the positive reception of our inaugural BCYC Xchange (China) event in March, we wasted no time organising the second session! This time, we added a sporty twist! What better way to build new relationships with our Chinese counterparts than through fun sports matches? 🎾 10 participants from both countries break the ice with a lively game of badminton and bowling before diving into a delightful dinner. Despite their diverse backgrounds, the participants discovered a shared zeal for fostering bilateral exchanges where they bonded over personal interests and animated discussions about education policies and enforcement rules in each other’s countries. 😁 Check out what the participants have to say in the post, and stay tuned for more events and activities for Singaporean youths in Beijing! 🙌 Names of the participants in 1st photo (from left to right): Huawei (CN), Xiu Lin (SG), Jerry (CN), Adrena(SG), Ya Hui (SG), Christine (SG), Yifan (CN), Jaslyn (SG), Luo Yun (CN) #BCYC2024 #YouthOpportunities #CrossCulturalConnections #Singapore #China #SingaporeChina #BCYCxchange

  • The 1st BCYC Xchange (China) concluded successfully with a meal between Singaporean and Chinese youths. The BCYC Xchange (China) is a new initiative we have in China to encourage greater interaction and connection between Singaporean youths studying in China and their Chinese peers. This endeavour seeks to cultivate friendships and deepen mutual understanding in a casual and fun way, fostering bonds and appreciation for each other's cultures. The first session on 30 March was fully subscribed, with 11 participants: 6 from Singapore and 5 from China. The diverse participants came from 5 universities, spanning 8 disciplines and sectors. They had a good time over brunch as they shared their interests, exchanged insights into each other's interests, and engaged in insightful discussions, which helped them learn more about Singaporean and Chinese culture and practices. Check out what the participants have to say in the post, and stay tuned for the next Xchange in April. #BCYC2024 #YouthLeadership #CrossCulturalConnections #SingaporeChina
