𝑻𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝑻𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒆𝒔: A tale of a bank in a divided city 🏛️ Did you know that for over 40 years – from 1949 to 1991 – Deutsche Bank operated under a different name in Berlin? 🤔 Following World War II, private banks were no longer allowed to operate in the Soviet-controlled, eastern part of Berlin. In West Berlin, this was still possible but the Allied powers prohibited banks from using their old names. They also broke the major German banks up into regional ones. Headquartered in East Berlin, Deutsche Bank needed a solution for its West Berlin operations. This is how Berliner Disconto Bank was created on 20 August 1949 in the western part of the city. The bank served customers in 79 branches across West Berlin until the fall of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of Germany. This fascinating story reminds us of the resilience of businesses and their ability to adapt and innovate during times of immense change. It also underscores the importance of understanding the historical context in which businesses operate. 📸 Our photo gallery shows Berliner Disconto Bank branches in the 1950s. 🕰️ Timeless Treasures is a snapshot of a moment in time, a banking souvenir from bygone days – brought to you by Deutsche Bank’s Historical Institute. #TimelessTreasures #History #DeutscheBank

"We operate in a zero-trust environment" 🔒 This phrase is more than a cybersecurity buzzword; it's a must in today's interconnected world. With cybercrime on the rise and the skills gap widening, we must adopt a proactive, ecosystem-wide approach to digital security. We spoke to Gretchen Bueermann, Knowledge Lead for Cybersecurity at the World Economic Forum (WEF), about vulnerabilities in value chains, data theft, blackmail, and gaps in cyber skills. She points to an oft-cited statistic that shows that by 2030, there could be a global talent shortage of as many as 85 million workers in the area of cybersecurity. This shortage would leave companies vulnerable and ill-equipped to face evolving threats. 🇮🇩 Our rich history in Indonesia dates back to 1969, when Deutsch-Asiatische Bank (DAB) opened its fourth Asian branch in Jakarta. Back then, we established a strong presence in the heart of the city, near the German Embassy and Lufthansa's offices. 🏦 Today, our modern Jakarta branch stands in a rebuilt structure within the prestigious Deutsche Bank building, carrying on the legacy that began on this site decades ago. We were one of the first international banks to recognize Indonesia's immense potential. We have played a critical role in facilitating foreign direct investment into Indonesia and helping Indonesian companies access global markets. ✨ As we celebrate 55 years in Indonesia, we are grateful for the trust and support of our clients, colleagues, and the community. #DeutscheBank #Indonesia #APAC #History

We spoke with Fabian Pfuetze, IT Director, and Andreas Dietz, Head of Finance, at Schäfer Shop to understand the impact of the incident, how the company responded, and the lessons they learnt. This story is a must-read for anyone looking to learn from real-world events and boost their organisation's resilience against cyber threats. 👉 Read the full interview on #dbWhatNext: https://lnkd.in/eMpnzNTb #DeutscheBank #CyberSecurity #CyberAttacks

Congratulations to all the incredible German athletes on your participation and victories at the Summer Games 2024 in Paris! 🥇 🇩🇪 Team Germany took 427 athletes (plus 44 substitutes) to Paris – more than ever before. 409 of them have received support from the German Sports Aid Foundation (Sporthilfe) in the course of their careers or are currently receiving this support. As a partner of the Foundation for more than twenty years, we at Deutsche Bank are extremely proud of this impressive number. A cornerstone of the partnership with Sporthilfe is the Deutsche Bank Sports Scholarship, which we grant to student athletes to help them combine competitive sports with a professional career. At this year’s Games, 39 current scholarship holders competed – in hockey, rowing, gymnastics and more. 🏑🚣🤸 🏆 So, special congratulations go to: Elisa Mevius and Marie Reichert for winning Gold (3x3 Basketball), Christopher Rühr and Alexander Stadler for winning Silver (Hockey) and Leonie Menzel for winning Bronze (Women's Quadruple Sculls), as well as Leonie Beck (Marathon Swimming), Emily Bölk (Handball) and Julian Zenger (Volleyball) for their great performances. Last but not least, congratulations to former scholarship holder and our current brand ambassador Oliver Zeidler for winning Gold (Men's Single Sculls). 🙌 We’re so happy we could support you on this journey over the years.
