The 2023-2024 academic year marked a significant milestone for the Worldwise Events programme. Today, we are honored to have a conversation with Edgar Zillmann, Group Head of Events and Educational Partnerships sharing fascinating behind-the-scenes stories and profound insights from his extensive experience in orchestrating events and fostering educational collaborations. "Our aim was to bring back all in-person events and support them with online engagements where needed," Edgar notes. The overarching theme was "Reconnection," bringing together students, teachers, staff, alumni, and parents. Highlights included the Dulwich Shakespeare Festival in October, hosted by Dulwich College Beijing, where students from seven schools delivered moving performances. The Dulwich Festival of Music in November saw record participation and a stunning gala concert at the Yinshan Lake Grand Theatre. Other notable events included the Dulwich Games sports competition and the Students Leadership Conference at Dehong Xi'an School. Edgar also mentioned the MADD (Music, Art, Drama, and Dance) Festival at Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi, where students showcased their talents in a world-class setting. Additionally, the Dulwich Game Jam allowed students to develop new computer games from scratch under the theme "Life on Land," mentored by experts from a renowned game development studio Ubisoft. The pinnacle of the year was the Dulwich Olympiad in Dulwich College (Singapore), with over 1,000 students from all Dulwich and Dehong schools participating. "It epitomizes everything that Worldwise Events stands for," Edgar says proudly. The Worldwise Events programme has significantly enriched our educational landscape, fostering a sense of community and collaboration that sets our group apart. Looking to the future, the programme's vision and dedication will undoubtedly continue to drive its success, creating unforgettable experiences for our students. Over Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 May, the annual EiM University and Careers Counselling summit was successfully held at Dulwich International High School Suzhou. These summits are excellent opportunities for sharing best practice for university and careers advice but also an invaluable source of current information with which to support our students in their educational journeys. The whole EiM network of Dulwich College International Schools and Dulwich International High Schools, Dehong Schools, and the Green School Bali came together with over 45 participants focused on building new knowledge as well as understanding the trends of universities. Over the course of these two days our counsellors shared information and ideas on topics as diverse as: Trends of applications before, during and after the Covid-19 pandemic for competitive US colleges, successful UCAS application profiles, the developments in AI being used by admissions to measure demonstrated interest and new upgraded features of Maialearning, etc. Keeping on top of current trends and developments in the ever-changing field of university admissions is a vital part of supporting our students with the best possible advice for their pathways, and the surest way to help them to 'Live Worldwise.' On 22nd April, Earth Day 2024 was celebrated by our schools as a day of action, engagement, and awareness. As a global education group that aspires to be a leader in pioneering education for a sustainable future, EiM aims to create the changemakers of tomorrow by inspiring generations of learners to Live Worldwise. Throughout Earth Day week, the entire community from students and staff at our schools and headquarters contributed examples on how they think and action sustainability and global citizenship in their work and life. In each school, students, teachers and staff reflected on the meaning of Earth Day and how they could implement sustainability and global citizenship in their daily lives. These examples and artefacts will form a bank of contributions that will inform this year’s EiM Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) report, creating a new groundbreaking model for authentic, meaningful, and personalised ESG documentation from the bottom up. The EiM ESG report, due to be released this summer, will showcase the power and collective impact of individual actions made possible through the strength of our community.
