🌍 Das CAS in Zukunft der Raumentwicklung und der Kompaktkurs zu den Grundlagen der Raumplanung an der ETH Zürich ist gestartet! 🚀 Seit gestern sind 25 engagierte interdisziplinäre Fach- und Führungspersonen aus der Raumplanung, Stadtentwicklung und verwandten Bereichen ihr Wissen am vertiefen. Die #Megatrends und die tiefgreifenden Veränderungen (Long waves of deep changes) unserer Zeit beeinflussen die Raumentwicklung. Was macht dieses CAS in Zukunft der Raumentwicklung so besonders? Der Fokus liegt auf den grossen Umwälzungen, die unsere Städte und Regionen transformieren. Durch praxisorientierte Lernmethoden werden die Teilnehmenden befähigt, Lösungen für eine nachhaltige und resiliente Raumentwicklung zu entwickeln. #TBT #Throwbackthursday – In 2023, a paper published by Anjanaa Devi Srikanth and Prof. Dr Thomas Schroepfer from Future Cities Laboratory Global used spatial network analysis to look at green spaces in Singapore, specifically one-north Park and Jurong Lakeside Garden. By understanding spatial connectivity and hashtag #pedestrian movement, their research helps guide how urban planners design pedestrian networks in urban green spaces. Arnór Bragi Elvarsson, doctoral candidate at Bryan Adey’s Chair of Infrastructure Management at ETH Zürich and AMIL within Future Cities Laboratory Global summarized his work in a short input for a 5 minute video produced by the German Spatial Planning Society, ARL - Akademie für Raumentwicklung in der Leibniz-Gemeinschaft. Arnór participated in the ARL Kongress in Lübeck in April 2024 and spoke about finding a balance between planning effectively, by finding a solution that reconciles the many diverse views of stakeholders in society and planning efficiently that finds the right solution more quickly. Orlando Román García, doctoral candidate at Prof. Bryan Adey’s Chair of Infrastructure Management at ETH Zürich and the Future Cities Laboratory Global just returned from a research stay at Delft University of Technology. He received an ETH Zurich Doc.Mobility Fellowship to carry out part of his doctoral research with Prof. Jan Kwakkel at the Policy Analysis section of the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management.   Orlando's research project at TU Delft is titled “Assessing spatial dynamics in the planning of urban systems under deep uncertainty” where advanced spatial clustering techniques were tested to discover relevant spatial scenarios through large ensembles of simulations of Land Use Cover Change (LUCC).

This is the kind of inspiring #knowledge transfer and mutual #learning that we strive for.
