Why did we choose crowd equity raise? Read my answers below

View profile for Dr. Simon JD Schillebeeckx, graphic

    🎓 Academic 🧑🏽💻 Entrepreneur ✍📚 Digital Sustainability 🌳🏔️Planet Hacker 🌎☘️

Why did we decide at Handprint to do a crowd equity raise in the USA, after we have closed CVC investment ? It's a question we have received regularly ever since we launched on Wefunder. It may not be the right thing to do for every startup but here is why we are convinced it is the right choice for us. 1) Founder time. Every founder who raised money knows it is very time-consuming. If you're busy growing the company, leading sales and deployment, and building the LT vision and strategy, spending months negotiating and telling the same story to a bunch of potential investors, may not be worth it. 2) Predictability. Raising venture money is a bit like winning a chess game while you're playing 20-30 grandmasters at the same time and you can't see the board. It requires all your cognitive bandwidth and the results are super hard to predict. After about 6 weeks of activity, we have a pretty predictable growth in investment which allows us to plan the future much more easily. 3) Story-shifting. Founders who do sales know that a sales pitch and an investment pitch are very different. If you have sales calls and investment calls the same day the constant story shifting is very hard, increasing the risk you're doing both poorly. 4) Growth network. By venturing into the USA, we are building a growth network of invested people who love what we do and want to help. Crowd raises thus give you a lot more than just capital, it's like growing an ambassador network on steroids. So we find people like Cody Dakota Wooten, C.B.C. whom we probably would never have met without the WeFunder platform. 5) Legal simplicity. Through the Wefunder platform, we aren't worried we will need to spend ten thousands of dollars on legal fees. Our first CVC investment turned a 16p term sheet into 100s of pages of Legalese (investment & partnership agreement). While it set us up for the future, the time and effort it took were absolutely worth it back then, but now our focus is on execution and onboarding new clients, and we are super happy we can dedicate all our efforts on those activities. Thanks to the hundreds of people who have joined us in our crowd equity raise so far. Let's get a few hundred more !

Today, on Earth Day, we reflect on the legacy we’re building for our planet. Just 20 days ago, we launched Handprint’s crowdfunding prompting a crucial question: ✋ What handprint will you leave behind? This Earth Day, let’s harness the incredible power within each of us to drive positive change. Because you know that taking action during difficult times is not a matter of mood or convenience. It doesn’t happen without consciousness and discipline. We all have to decide now what difference we want to make… ….and grow our handprint in this world. https://lnkd.in/gBaSHQ94

Going Carbon Neutral is great if you want to do 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠. Think about it. 🤔 𝗤: What's the common factor in targets like Carbon Neutral and Net Zero? 𝗔: Aspiring to have no impact on the environment by reducing or mitigating your CO2 emissions and other greenhouse gases. In other words: Nothing, nada, zip, zilch. These sorts of targets are great first steps toward addressing the climate crisis, but how do they actually help to 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 the planet? And should we instead be thinking beyond these targets, toward more 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘁-𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 actions? 🌏 These are some of the pressing questions that today's returning guest, Dr. Simon JD Schillebeeckx, spoke about in the latest episode of 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐖𝐚𝐲𝐬. Simon is the co-founder of Handprint, an innovative tech company that makes it simple for brands, businesses and everyday folk to get involved in planet-positive initiatives. We also spoke at length about: 🔹 How the Handprint platform helps companies deliver positive impact 🔹 What is "Regeneration as a Service" 🔹 Differences between a carbon footprint and an environmental handprint 🔹 Why FinTech could power positive change at scale 🔹 How to increase customer engagement through strategic philanthropy 🔹 Why we need to focus on regenerative actions, not just carbon neutrality 🔹 How an inspirational trip to Myanmar led to the founding of Handprint & much more! 🎧 Listen here: https://lnkd.in/gKkUuYTy #regeneration #sustainability #socialimpact #tech #newways

Reducing our collective carbon emissions is an important step toward mitigating the harmful effects of air pollution, environmental degradation and the worsening climate crisis. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘁? Or should we shift our aim from Net Zero, to something a bit more 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘁-𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲? After all, how can we regenerate the health of our oceans, lands and forests, if our environmental responsibility targets are focused on getting to the point of, well, simply not making things worse, instead of making things better? 🤔 Now, this may sound like a logical shift in mindset, yet like anything, actions speak louder than words. And in order to address the issue of global sustainability, we need buy-in from people, sure, but also industries on a global scale. 🌏 In this episode you'll hear from a changemaker who is helping to address these challenges, providing innovative solutions and connecting industries and individuals at the intersection of positive impact. Returning to the show is Dr. Simon JD Schillebeeckx, an academic, entrepreneur, author, and former sustainability consultant. Simon also co-founded Handprint, an innovative tech company that makes planet-positive actions simple, through the company's "impact platform" and what they call “Regeneration as a Service”. 🎧 Listen to this: https://lnkd.in/gUrcHepv #newways #interview #audio #pod #startup #sustainability #impact #planetpositive #handprint #netzero #tech #techstartup #regeneration #changemakers #nature
