Contemporary Art Museum

About us

Singapore Art Museum opened in 1996 as the first art museum in Singapore. Also known as SAM, we present contemporary art from a Southeast Asian perspective for artists, art lovers and the art curious in multiple venues across the island, including a new venue in the historic port area of Tanjong Pagar. SAM is building one of the world's most important public collections of Southeast Asian contemporary art, with the aim of connecting the art and the artists to the public and future generations through exhibitions and programmes. SAM is working towards a humane and sustainable future by committing to responsible practices within its processes. For more information, visit www.singaporeartmuseum.sg.

Each artist examines themes of “everyday,” “repetition,” and “endurance” through their unique lens.  Experience how the simplest acts can reveal incredible strength and creativity. Don’t miss this chance to connect with 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘗𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘴 that mirror your own daily journey.  Free admission for all! Plan your trip to SAM at Tanjong Pagar Distripark today. We shared a heartfelt and memorable townhall earlier this week, bidding farewell to our exceptional Deputy Chair, Siak. As Siak gracefully steps into her next chapter, we came together to honor her remarkable leadership and countless contributions. One of the highlights of the townhall was celebrating our dedicated team members with long service awards, a testament to the incredible culture Siak has cultivated. Siak, thank you for guiding us with grace, kindness and inspiration. Wishing you the brightest of futures ahead, you will be dearly missed! 🌟🎉

Do these shadows belong to the trees along the pavement? Take a closer look to find out. While 𝘛𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘴 𝘜𝘱𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦-𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯 seamlessly merges the surrounding tree shadows with its inverted graphic counterparts to illustrate the interconnected nature of all things, 𝘓4𝘕𝘋𝘧33𝘭𝘻 integrates archival patterns and images of Bras Basah into a dynamic urban canvas that pays homage to its location. Experience renewed landscapes of the city through these artworks that engage with their environment—evoking movement and dimension to what is typically seen as a static display. Now on view on SAM’s hoardings along Bras Basah Road and Queen Street till 29 Oct 2023 as part of 𝘚𝘈𝘔 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴: 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘶𝘦𝘴 & 𝘙𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘹𝘦𝘴.
