Role involved production of preliminary sources study reports (PSSR), the design and supervision of ground investigation including subsequent ground investigation reports (GIR), geotechnical design reports (GDR) including designs using Slope/W software, whole-life costing and value management using scheme analysis system geotechnics software, geotechnical monitoring, principal inspections (asset management) and geotechnical design support for other schemes.

As design manager I was responsible for controlling programme and budgets, and raising required change controls, to ensure timely and cost effective deliver of designs to the client. My previous experience in different civils disciplines allowed me to act as a conduit of information for my geotechnical colleagues through using a combination of my own knowledge and other contacts within the company. This enhanced the design management of the jobs, reducing misunderstandings therefore speeding up project delivery.

      Gained Chartership April 2011.

I acted as design manager for the alterations and additions work inside T1-T2 Tunnels, I used my knowledge gained from dealing with interface information to drive forward the design, including fire engineering, MEP and AS design, structural design, and architecture. I supported the development of 3D models, including probing issues through reviewing Navisworks models, which contributed to improving the standard of deliverable from the interfacing consultant. This in turn allowed greater understanding of the nuances of this element of work, along with the associated complexities. I developed construction sequencing and programming issues including writing the Construction Issues Report. I reviewed deliverables including specs and drawings for consistency and accuracy prior to issue to the client, improving the quality before it would become an issue for our client. At meetings I was often involved in direct discussion with senior client staff and technical directors from the interfacing consultants.

Interface manager for a 2.6km cut and cover tunnel with eight cells housing APM and BHS, with associated ancillary buildings. The tunnel will be through newly reclaimed land connecting two new terminal buildings.

I am the key point of contact for interfacing with 6 primary interfacing consultants and 4 secondary consultants, and responsible for information collation and distribution, allowing project team work more efficiently. I managed personnel and team preparations for meetings as well as presenting elements of work outside of my immediate knowledge base to the client and interfacing consultants. I have supported colleagues in order to alleviate pressure on the design teams. I managed the exchange of information both internally and externally in order to facilitate the design. I acted as an information distribution point with my extensive knowledge of the available data. Through following established document management procedures I have been able to quickly access important data to allow colleagues to deliver their work. I have managed various Interface Register and a Master Interface Schedule. I established strong relationships with staff from the interfacing consultants which helped me to gain information, press the 3138 agenda and facilitate design development. I wrote the PPW document which drives forwards BS1192 collaborative working concepts, including suitable systems for the use of ProjectWise. I followed this up by providing BMS leadership through peer assisted learning.
I helped manage scope creep and identified scope gaps and actively participated in change control and VO justification. I have been able to quickly build effective timelines of events to support the 3138 case.

I wrote and distributed the HSSRA and ISRA, to aid BMS compliance. I helped develop the Assumptions Register, including detailed review and suggested updates to DM, in order to manage the risk.
