Keynote:

We are thrilled to announce that Michelle Thaller will be the plenary speaker at this event.

Dr. Michelle Thaller is an astrophysicist and science communicator with over two decades of experience at NASA.  Michelle began her career as a post-doctoral researcher at Caltech, studying the lifecycles of massive stars.  Michelle began to work for the Spitzer mission at NASA’s Jet Propulsion laboratory, and organized an education and public outreach group that specialized in infrared astronomy. In 2009, she came to NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in the roll of Assistant Director of Science, specializing in communications.  After three years at NASA Headquarters working in communications for the Science Mission Directorate, she returned to Goddard, where she is currently the liaison between the Office of Communication and the Science Directorate. Outside her work at NASA, she has appeared in many television science programs, including How the Universe Works and Space’s Deepest Secrets.  Michelle has done two TEDx talks, is a frequent contributor to the Big Think podcast, and hosted the program Orbital Path on national public radio for three years. Michelle is a two-time winner of the Robert Goddard award, as well as the Women in Aerospace, Telly and Webby awards.
