  • Dodger Stadium has the largest capacity of all MLB stadiums.
  • Tampa Bay’s Tropicana Field is the smallest current MLB stadium.
  • Seven ballparks have retractable roofs.

The unique atmosphere and dimensions of a ballpark can certainly influence MLB odds before the first pitch.

Of the 30 stadiums, seven have retractable roofs, while Tampa Bay’s Tropicana Field is the only stadium with a fixed roof.

The varying dimensions at different stadiums are part of baseball, but which teams have the biggest and smallest capacities?

Biggest MLB Stadium

Dodger Stadium is the biggest MLB stadium by capacity. The ballpark opened in 1962 and has a maximum capacity of 56,000, which is almost 6,000 more than any other MLB stadium.

The Dodgers routinely attract the most fans per game. They have regularly had streaks of topping the attendance tables – fans have been heading to Dodger Stadium in huge numbers with the team enjoying great success over the last decade.

Jackie Robinson and Sandy Koufax both have statues outside Dodger Stadium.

Smallest MLB Stadium

Tropicana Field is the smallest MLB stadium with a capacity of just 25,000. That’s almost 10,000 smaller than the next lowest capacity, though it’s worth noting that the capacity has decreased considerably since the stadium was opened in 1990.

The capacity only dropped below 40,000 in 2007. It has gradually declined since then, ultimately falling to the current mark of 25,000 in 2019.

While the Rays are not known for having the most committed fan base, you have to go back to 2017 for the last time they had the lowest attendance per game.
