  • The Philadelphia Phillies have MLB’s best record at 58-32.
  • Nine teams are +1800 or shorter to win the World Series.
  • The Phillies have leapfrogged the Yankees over the last week.

There has been significant movement in World Series odds over the last week. The Philadelphia Phillies have overtaken the New York Yankees to become the second favourite. Building a lead in the division, the Baltimore Orioles have seen their price shorten to +650, while the Minnesota Twins and Houston Astros have moved to +1800.

The Milwaukee Brewers and San Diego Padres have also had their odds shortened. They are now +2500 and +3500, respectively.

Let’s check out the latest 2024 baseball odds to win the World Series

Who Is Favoured To Win MLB World Series

Los Angeles Dodgers World Series Odds +310

Despite losing five of their last nine games, online sportsbooks at BetMGM are holding firm on the Los Angeles Dodgers as World Series favourites. The Dodgers are still without Mookie Betts, Max Muncy, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Walker Buehler.

While Shohei Ohtani continues to lead an elite offence, the Dodgers are only 24th in team ERA over the last month. This week’s series with the Phillies is a major test for Dave Roberts’ team before they face the Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox, and San Francisco Giants.

Philadelphia Phillies World Series Odds +500

Even after losing a series to the Atlanta Braves, the Phillies have overtaken the Yankees in the latest World Series odds. Philadelphia is the same price as they were a week ago, but with an eight-game lead in the division, I think their place in the playoffs is all but guaranteed.

J.T. Realmuto, Bryce Harper, and Kyle Schwarber being on the injured list leaves the Phils’ offence looking a bit thin. Their starting pitchers have had some rough starts over the last few weeks, too. I don’t like the value on the Phillies at this price, particularly with their injuries at the moment.

New York Yankees World Series Odds +600

On a troubling 5-15 stretch, the Yankees have slipped to +600 to win the World Series. They are still the American League favourites with the oddsmakers, but the Orioles are right behind New York as of July 8. Baltimore also has a three-game lead in the division.

Only the Colorado Rockies have a worse ERA over the last month. Aside from Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, and Ben Rice, the Yankees’ offence has been woeful. Their much-praised rotation has repeatedly disappointed over the last three weeks or so, and they suddenly have a lot of issues to address ahead of the trade deadline.

Baltimore Orioles World Series Odds +650

I have been waiting for the Orioles’ World Series odds to shorten. Building a three-game lead over the Yankees in the AL East has finally got Baltimore to +650, and their lead could increase further this week with three games against the Chicago Cubs before they face the Yankees.

Baltimore’s offence has been scorching hot, with the second-best wRC+ since July 7. Their pitching staff could do with some reinforcements, but Corbin Burnes, Grayson Rodriguez, and Albert Suárez are all having excellent years so far.

Atlanta Braves World Series Odds +900

Wins over the Phillies on Saturday and Sunday ended a 1-4 slump for the Atlanta Braves. Their offence is still mediocre, with a 98 wRC+ over the last month, but their pitching has been phenomenal. A team ERA of 3.13 since July 7 is by far the best in the big leagues.

Catching the Phils for the division is very unlikely. Atlanta can still be optimistic, though, as they own the best run differential in the National League outside of the three division leaders. Look for Alex Anthopoulos to be very active ahead of the trade deadline.
