  • A’ja Wilson is on pace to average the most points in WNBA history.
  • Caitlin Clark set the record for most assists in a game with 19.
  • The New York Liberty are 17-2 in their last 19 games.

A’ja Wilson (-5000) and Caitlin Clark (-1200) are the runaway favourites to win WNBA MVP and Rookie of the Year, boasting the best basketball odds by a wide margin in their respective races.

The New York Liberty (+155) are 17-2 in their last 19 games, owning the second-best odds to win the championship at the BetMGM online sportsbook.

Let’s take a look at some of the best bets to make for the 2024 WNBA season.

WNBA Best Bets for the 2024 Season

Caitlin Clark to Win Rookie of the Year (-2500)

Clark is the only rookie in WNBA history to register multiple 20-plus point and 10-plus assist efforts and a triple-double, including a 24-point and 19-assist performance, the most assists ever recorded by a player in a WNBA game.

As of July 12, she became the first WNBA rookie to post 400 points, 150 assists, and 100 rebounds in a season.

With all of the history the Iowa product is making, it’s crazy to even consider that she had one more year of college eligibility.

An argument could be made that the Des Moines, Iowa, native should’ve stayed close to home for one more season due to the money she could’ve inked in NIL deals.

Instead, she finds herself with the most bets to win MVP (54.9% of tickets and 43.9% of handle) at BetMGM while competing against some of the best basketball players in the world. Her WNBA MVP odds are +9000.

New York Liberty to Win the Championship (+155)

The Liberty have beaten some of the league’s top contenders over the past two months, including the Indiana, the Connecticut Sun (three times), Las Vegas Aces, Phoenix Mercury, and Minnesota Lynx.

New York’s offence runs very smoothly with tons of ball movement, off-ball cuts, 3-point shooters, and three dominant scorers in Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu, and Jonquel Jones.

Their offence can get hot in a hurry, helping them build big leads. Their active, hands-on defence also forces a ton of turnovers, helping the Liberty attack the rim in transition.

New York owns the league’s best offensive rating and fourth-best defensive rating.

Ionescu was on fire heading into the Olympic break, averaging 25 points on 46.3% shooting, including 45.5% from 3-point land, five rebounds, five assists, and 1.5 steals per game to help the Liberty win four straight games.

Stewart’s 3-point percentage is down to 22.9% on the season, but she is still stuffing the stat sheet in a multitude of ways while serving as the glue keeping this unit together on both sides of the floor.

Jones has found her niche as a floor-spacing and playmaking big while continuing to grab lots of boards and block a ton of shots.

A’ja Wilson to Win MVP (-5000)

Wilson is averaging 27.2 points on 52.2% shooting, 12.0 rebounds, 2.9 blocks, 2.4 assists, and 1.9 steals per game.

Her scoring alone would mark the highest points-per-game average in WNBA history and just the second time a player has averaged more than 25.

What makes it even crazier are the numbers surrounding her scoring average, highlighting her impact as an all-around superstar on both ends of the floor

The Aces center is the first player in WNBA history to record three straight games of 20-plus points and 15-plus rebounds.

Barring major injury, I believe her winning the MVP is a foregone conclusion.

A third MVP should secure her spot in the conversation as one of the greatest WNBA players of all time. Quite frankly, she deserves a lot more recognition for the historic season she’s putting up.
