Program Description The Social Sciences Career Readiness Internship Program (SSCRIP) is a year-long program designed to provide undergraduate majors in the social sciences with the necessary tools to prepare themselves for the job market. The program consists of the following integrated components:
  • a Fall semester long 1-unit professional development course-L&S 198 (See description below)
  • Spring semester activities to provide continuous support to students preparing to apply for their internships
  • a paid, summer-long internship, either within the US or abroad.
Course: Professional Development (L&S 198): Only students accepted into SSCRIP can enroll in the course. Fall Semester only: 1 unit Time : Every Thursday from 5p-6:30p Location: 155 Anthro/Arts Building Description: Designed to give students insights about the domestic and international job markets, as well as provide guidance on how to set career goals and tips on resume and interview techniques, the professional development course (L&S 198) will help students prepare to apply for and thrive in their summer internship. The Spring semester activities are intended to provide sustained support for students in their internship application. SSCRIP Program Requirements:
  • Selected applicants must commit to participating in all components of the program.
  • Students must be accepted into SSCRIP before they will be given the class number and code for enrollment.
  • Successful completion of the course and active participation in program activities are prerequisites for applying for the paid summer internships.
Eligibility For SSCRIP
  • Must be a registered student in the Social Sciences Division
  • Have completed at least three years of coursework, including transfer eligible courses, by the start of the internship(in summer 2025), and expect to graduate in Fall 2025 or Spring 2026
  • Priorities will be given to
    • applicants who are Juniors at the time of application
  • First-generation college students, transfer, and financial aid eligible students are especially encouraged to apply.

Students must fill out the online application and submit 3 supporting documents:

1) a one-page resume
2) a copy of the transcript (unofficial transcript is accepted)
3) a 1-page recommendation letter (does not have to be from a faculty)

Wednesday, August 28, 2024 – Selected students will be notified
Monday, September 2, 2024 – Deadline for students to confirm their participation
Friday September 6, 2024 – Waitlisted students will be notified
