Taxpayer Protection Act

Californians can’t afford to pay higher and higher taxes and fees with little accountability or transparency. The Taxpayer Protection Act will give voters – NOT politicians – the final decision on all new and higher taxes.

The Taxpayer Protection
Act is Simple.

Empowers voters with the right to approve or reject all new state and local taxes.

Increases accountability and transparency so politicians spend our tax dollars more efficiently.

Stops politicians from using “hidden taxes” disguised as fees to drive up the cost of government services.

Watch the video below to understand how voting in favor of the Taxpayer Protection and Government Accountability Act will benefit everyone in California.

Californians are struggling.

“California is becoming too expensive for working families and family businesses. We need to give Californians the final decision on raising their taxes and better accountability for how state and local governments spend their money. Now is the time to pass the Taxpayer Protection and Government Accountability Act.”

Robert Rivinius, Executive Director
Family Business Association of California

Breaking news: In an unprecedented threat to democracy, California Supreme Court removes the Taxpayer Protection Act from the ballot.

The California Supreme Court’s ruling is the greatest threat to democracy California has faced in recent memory. Governor Newsom’s lawsuit has effectively erased the voice of 1.43 million voters who signed the petition to qualify the Taxpayer Protection Act for the November ballot.

Most importantly, the governor has cynically terminated Californians’ rights to engage in direct democracy despite his many claims that he is a defender of individual rights and democracy. Evidently, the governor wants to protect democracy and individual rights in other states, but not for all Californians.

We will continue to explore legal options and fight for your right to hold your government accountable through direct democracy.
