Gucci ‘Horsebit Shoulder Bag’ - $4,300.00
Gucci 'Horsebit Leather Sandals’ - $920.00

Someone got a haul of Gucci recently and decided to wear it all in one fell weekend. It’s not uncommon for Taylor to be brand loyal and to wear a slew of things from a single designer many times over, consecutively. Think FP, Ref, or Stella McCartney. Even Vivienne Westwood and Gant as recent examples. These are brands Taylor has worn back to back for years. Taylor also turned to Gucci a lot in reputation’s years, particularly for its iconic kingsnake motif. I can’t imagine it given Taylor’s hesitancy to take on an official fashion label endorsement contract, but I can’t deny she and Travis have donned a lot of matching Gucci recently. It has raised my brows, esp as logo-heavy items aren’t typically something Taylor wears, but not enough to think an official contract is underfoot. Rather, I think it’s a choice to make for a sequence of cohesive back to back public outings. I’d even be willing to believe it was setting the stage for a Gucci red carpet at the MTV VMAs on Wednesday.

If I were to nitpick styling, as someone very Pro Sandwich Style, I can appreciate the matching accessories coordinating her purse and sandals. As a neutrals lover, I also love the combo of black + brown. That said, upon first glance of this ‘fit sans coat I originally thought keeping both of her Gucci accessories from the US Open earlier for a pop of colour + tonal coordination with the dress’ leather details would have served this outfit well.

Luckily, this is a time when the coat becomes greater than the sum of an outfit’s parts and works as the key to bringing all of the disparate elements together. The addition of the darker (almost black, from a distance) buttons on her trench did just about enough to bring the bag and shoes into a clearer, more intentional light.

Undress Code ‘No Promises Bodysuit’ - $159.00
Louis Vuitton 'Coussin BB Bag’ - $4,150.00
The Row 'Classic Leather Belt’ - $590.00
Louis Vuitton 'Donna High Boot’ - $2,760.00

If I had to describe my own personal fashion wheelhouse, I would say it sits closer to neutrals and classic/polished cuts. An outfit that involves all black, a blazer, and boots? Sign me up! While in my own life I ordinarily wouldn’t reach for a mesh bodysuit … on a NYC date night - I’ll accept it. Encourage it, even! The sheer quality of this bodysuit actually reminds me of the Tortured Poets cover and how those clothes communicated a feeling of powerful, sensual, and raw vulnerability. An ownership over something intimate. Choosing what exactly to make public and what to keep a little veiled. This new-to-her brand also represents two of her signature style pillars: the high/low and indie designers. This is when Taylor will mix high end brands with more accessibly priced pieces (often from smaller, lesser-known labels like this Polish brand whose cheeky name references their predominantly sheer offerings that largely centers on lingerie and bodysuits) for an inspirational/attainable blend.

Taylor has often gone back to an all black look for dinner nights out. And who can blame her. I lean on all black all the time when I want to feel polished and chic. Texturally, I thought this was a really well-played outfit. The differences in material and feel prevent an all black look from feeling too one-note. Between the mesh of the top, the silk of the blazer, and the embossing of the bag and boots the outfit has tons of movement and interest. Even all using the same colour! And in terms of metallic styling, there’s a motif of gold in all her hardware that keeps things cohesive.

Attending a wedding | New York City, NY | September 8, 2024

Larkspur & Hawk ‘Posy Earrings’ - no longer available
EF Collection ‘Diamond Mini Huggie & Prong Set Chain Stud Earring’ - $850.00
Cartier ‘Agrafe Herringbone Twisted Necklace’ - $27,250.00
Jacquie Aiche ‘Spaced Out High Neck Body Chain’ - $11,550.00
Wove Made x Michelle Wie West 'Custom Diamond Tennis Bracelet’ - $5,680.00 (starting)
Lizzie Mandler ‘3 Row Cleo Bracelet’ - $18,300.00
Zimmermann ‘Halliday Dress’ - $795.00
Vivienne Westwood 'Rosie Circle Frame Denim-Jacquard Bag’ - $544.00
Christian Louboutin ‘Condora ’85 Leather Heeled Sandals’ - $845.00

It’s not often we see Taylor looking this fancy outside Electric Lady - the NY recording studio where she’s recorded many of her albums (including all TV’s, Lover, folklore, Midnights, and TTPD). On this occasion, Taylor wasn’t heading in for a session - but for a wedding! With Travis as +1, the two were guests to the nuptials of model Karen Elson and Electric Lady Studios owner Lee Foster. To Vogue, Karen noted the importance of having one of their intimate ceremonies (the other was in Nashville) at Electric Lady. “[Lee has] put his heart and soul into [it] … it’s really his home,” she said.

Taylor has a go-to wedding guest formula: a fit/flare midi dress, tons of jewelry, and minimalist heels. The dress is lovely and I’m a fan of the scallop detail at the top and hem + the pretty floral print. I can’t even get too mad at the wrinkles - it’s linen, after all. Overall, it’s a great pick for a breezy, late summer garden party. And of course I’m a fan of those minimal ankle strap heels (natch).

The addition of the “something blue” bag was genius. It ties into the blue of her floral print + the coordinating Vivienne Westwood polo Travis was wearing. While Taylor couldn’t have known, it also played nicely with the bride’s custom Valentino gown which featured a blue floral appliqué. The biggest question mark? If wearing such a light coloured dress to a wedding is appropriate. There are unconfirmed remarks that the bride requested female guests wear cream. As someone who loves to aggressively plan and prefers to err on the side of caution, I elect to stay away from a dress this light - even with a floral print - when dressing for a wedding. Though Taylor’s dress is actually much warmer toned in retail photos. It falls closer to a pale orange. Ultimately, if this was indeed bride’s orders - I think she aced the assignment.

I love that Taylor’s jewelry styling tapped into one of her key style pillars: repetition. All of these are familiar pieces we’ve seen styled before. The oldest are her earrings which she first showed off in 2021. Next is her beloved vintage Cartier necklace which she acquired last summer. And, most recently, both her EF Collection earrings and Lizzie Mandler bracelet which she wore to the Chiefs vs Ravens opening season game this week.

In looking at her jewelry, my eye also happened to spot a body chain she paired with her Cartier necklace. This immediately brought me back to Jack Antonoff’s wedding last summer when she also wore this piece. Maybe it’s her wedding signature move.

Out and about | London, England | August 12, 2024

Vivienne Westwood ‘Cut Off Jacket’ - $1,395.00
Vivienne Westwood ‘Wizard Frill Shirt’ - $760.00
Vivienne Westwood ‘Cut Off Skirt’ - $960.00
Vivienne Westwood ‘Tuesday Mini Bag’ $690.00
Sézane ‘Georgia High Mary Janes in Pistachio’ - $230.00

This marks a second time Taylor has made a direct pull from the VW FW 2024 lookbook. Like her previous look, shared by Brittany Mahomes when they were in Amsterdam, Taylor sought to diverge from the designer’s styling through her choice in footwear. The VW team styled this look with thigh-high red socks and tonal red platforms. Taylor instead opted for a Christmas Clueless-meets-Austin Powers aesthetic with crisp white socks and olive mary jane heels that bring out the green tones in her tartan set. I think the choice works to create a cohesive colour palette and makes more sense for the warmer weather in London. And also greeeeeeeeeeeen.

I personally love seeing the difference from in how a garment ultimately gets worn as a street style look it demonstrates an individual’s POV. The power of styling is everything! While a copy + paste of a campaign look is fun to see (esp for the designer kick of it all!), I think it’s most fun when someone brings that ‘styling’ element to a look and can depart dramatically from the designer’s original vision to give us their take on an outfit. I actually could imagine Taylor keeping the socks but opting in for those mary jane pumps and ditching the fussy shirt underneath for a simple tee or tank. If this were taking place in cooler temps I could also imagine a turtleneck and tights with heeled booties.

Taken in isolation, this is a great shoulder season look that, while not my personal taste, bridges the short hemlines and cute heels of summer with an autumnal palette and layering via the frilly white shirt. It also continues the connection between TTPD and VW. A signature of this era so far has been the corseted look, something that VW played a huge role in modernizing and integrating into their brand house codes.Taylor has worn many VW pieces for this era including while performing songs from TTPD on the Eras Tour.

This is Taylor’s first physical appearance since her trio of shows in Vienna, Austria were cancelled due to planned threats of a terrorist attack. Taylor has not commented thus far on these cancellations. According to reports, this appearance in London was following a party for Eras Tour staff ahead of her final string of shows at Wembley which conclude the European leg of this tour.

Was anyone else also reminded of this heart shaped crossbody Taylor carried oh so many moons ago?

Stella McCartney ‘Falabella Bucket Bag’ - $1,225.00

On the styling front, loose waves feel right for the outfit. I appreciate the consistent aesthetic and tonal tie-in from her accessories straight to the coloured stripes of her crocheted dress via her buttery yellow Gucci slides and a brown Stella bag.

Gucci ‘Jackie Notte Mini Bag’ - $3,980.00

While I must of course +1 the sandwich styling of rouge accessories by Gucci between her bag and shoes the accessory I’m sure most are hung up on is that Lorraine Schwartz choker.

Taylor introduced this during the 2024 Grammys, the night she announced TTPD as she was receiving an award for Midnights. The item merges two key aspects of their respective eras - time as a thematic concept and a nod to Victorian fashion - in a way that feels appropriate to the whiplash of TTPD. Perhaps more than any other era, I dwell a lot on the abruptness of TTPD and how swiftly it careened into our lives. While amongst her musical peers, she chose to turn a night about celebrating the industry at large (and a previous body of her own work) into a personal launchpad for new music.

I think what defines TTPD, inherently, is its disruptive quality. This album and its songs are what they are because of the nature of events that upended her world. Its rollout, in correlation, has been equally as vertiginous.

So what does it mean to bring this key accessory back? A new TTPD music video is my top guess. But perhaps we’ll know for sure in Liverpool tomorrow night!

On vacation | Lake Como, Italy | May 17, 2024

Cartier ‘Agrafe Herringbone Twisted Necklace’ - $27,250.00
Versace ‘Medusa Small Tote’ - $1,995.00
Versace Gianni Ribbon Open Patent Ballerinas’ - $925.00

In between Eras Tour stops in Europe, Taylor opted for some vacation time at this very romantic and popular lakeside tourist destination in Italy.

I’d personally totally copy + paste this particular ‘fit. Doesn’t it have a certain classic Euro vacation energy to it? A classic trench, LBD, and coordinating black accessories feel timeless and chic. Particularly these on-trend mary jane ballerinas. The Cartier necklace is one Taylor started wearing last May and has pulled out intermittently - often with all black outfits as a fancy ‘pop’ I’d imagine.

Stella McCartney ‘Logo Perforated Shoulder Bag’ - $1,025.00

How fun is it to see the transition of Bleachella 2016 (Bleached Hair Version) to Bleachella 2024 (Bleachers Version)? I so love seeing Taylor able to take in her friends’ sets at this festival (she was spotted side stage at Bleachers and cheering on Ice Spice).

Gucci ‘Luce Small Shoulder Bag’ - $3,200.00

Taylor doesn’t often carry Gucci bags - though she’s had a few in her collection over the years. Among them include a red flap shoulder bag in 2015, a black top handle crossbody in 2017, and a Diamante belt bag in 2019.

Joseph Duclos ‘Diane Leather Messenger Bag’ - $7,079.00

After taking a very deserved break following the most recent leg of the Eras Tour, Taylor has appeared in Malibu grabbing lunch out with Travis.

This ‘fit continues her streak of schoolgirl softness as well as her well established sartorial style pillars (repeats, high/low, indie designers).

The high/low and indie designer comes from her sandwich style accessories thanks to her long standing love of the more accessible Reformation and a new bag by French brand Joseph Duclos.

Joseph Duclos interestingly has a history tracing back to 1754 but has only recently been revived by new creative direction. Interestingly, the namesake of this ‘Diane’ bag was apparently meant to pay homage to a “muse who is powerful and mysterious”.

Super Bowl LVIII | Las Vegas, NV | February 11, 2024

Judith Leiber ‘Football Clutch’ - $4,495.00

This is the special Super Bowl edition of the designers’ football clutch (which is available in a few colourways). Taylor requisitioned her custom Judith Leiber football clutch to have Travis’ number added to it by the brand - but if that wasn’t a bespoke option would it surprise me at all if she took matters into her own hands via a hot glue gun? No.

A part of me likes to think that this was chosen as a game day appropriate nod to the purse that the KC Chiefs owners, the Hunts, gifted Taylor for her birthday last year - which was by this same designer, but a microphone. But it turns out the purse was indeed a gift - just from Shaq!

Worn with: Wear by EA jacket, Stephanie Gottlieb pendant and tennis necklace, Shay necklace and bracelet, The Last Line earring, Shahla Karimi + Shay + Retrouvai rings, Dion Lee top, Area pants, and Christian Louboutin boots

Louis Vuitton ‘Petite Malle Bag’ - $5,700.00 (pictured similar)

If my eyes don’t deceive me, despite Taylor carrying this LV with the 'back’ facing out - based on the cross stitching this appears to be the very same 'Petite Malle’ she used to carry back in 2016. And if so, a fun fact that her initials are engraved on the gold front clasp.

Manu Atelier ‘Mini Gala Bag in Linen Suede’ - $535.00

This is the second bag that Taylor has carried from this small, female-owned business as per her trio of style pillars like supporting smaller, indie brands.

The bigger question is how many comments in will it take for someone to ask if this is a hint that she’s going to the Met Gala?
