Christian Louboutin ‘Astrilarge Botta 100 Leather Boots’ - $1,995.00

This entire outfit actually strikes a very similar formula to her December 10 appearance (which makes for easy game day dressing): Black coat, red top, short black skirt, tights, tall black boots.

WWAKE ‘Graduated Diamond Hoop w/ Opal’ - $1,933.00

Taylor continuing to add to her opal jewelry collection with these drop earrings by WWAKE. But just as importantly - this hair with the tousled curls and forehead-swept textured bangs is screaming reputation, no?

Mejuri ‘Heirloom Ring in Garnet’ - $598.00
EB and Co ‘Tight End Ring’ - $14.00
Wear by EA x Baublebar ‘Chiefs Necklace’ - $43.99
Jacquie Aiche ‘Large Marquise Diamond Pave Signet Ring’ - $6,250.00
Wove Made x Michelle Wie West 'Custom Diamond Tennis Bracelet’ - $5,680.00 (starting)

By contrast from her relatively non-descript outfit, Taylor went all out with sentimental and Chiefs-approved jewelry including her #SarahExact Mejuri ring. Not only is it very Taylor to wear her heart proudly in this fashion but it’s also very Taylor to execute such a high/low mix here. From solid gold forever rings (I will personally vouch for that Heirloom ring from the rooftops), to custom and classy diamond-encrusted tennis bracelets mixed with pieces by women-owned (or women-designed) and locally-made designers. I’ve so loved seeing her continue to underscore her long-standing fashion pillars even into her game day fashion.

That’s Taylor: An enviable mix of aspirational and approachable, all while being unabashedly emotional.

Guest In Residence ‘Cozy Crew in Cherry Red’ - $695.00

As has been Taylor’s M.O. for her game day style, she opted for a sentimental piece by a friend - this one a Chiefs-approved cherry red cozy knit by friends Gigi Hadid’s cashmere brand.

It’s been fascinating to observe Taylor’s game day fashion evolve from September to now (full Patreon post coming next week in case you’d like to subscribe @ patreon.com/taylorswiftstyle) and even more so to see her wear something so utterly non-descript during such a key match like the AFC Championship - a Super Bowl decider game.

We’ve seen Taylor be unafraid to literally wear her heart on her sleeve, opting for ’87’ plastered pieces like a custom jacket but I think her choice here to go subtle (especially at an away game, which has also been typical for her game day style playbook) and non-descript but no less personally meaningful to be the right call to strike a more supportive spectator (not starring) role. Especially given the fact that I’m sure the celebratory walk onto the field was planned in the case the Chiefs were to win - making her presence all the more visible and photographed and in particular closer up than any photogs would ever have access to her at previous games.

B-Low the Belt ‘Acadia Chain Belt’ - $156.00

I think hair up was probably the right call to balance the volume of the dress but I can’t help but wonder how more effective the styling would have been had it adhered closer to the original (buttoned sleeves, oversized cinch-worthy leather belt). The choice to style with the seen chain belt actually reminds me very much of her Woman of the Decade jumpsuit by Oscar de la Renta - which further underlines the “business” and power motif on display.

Marc Jacobs ‘Amber Boot’ - $475.00 (no longer available)

There’s a lot about this outfit that should have alarm bells ringing. The first thing that hit me personally were those boots which bear striking similarity to the many pairs she wore during the original reputation run that had all the same characteristics: Black leather, ankle height, chunky heel, platform. Worn by Vetements in her Vogue 2016 spread and Balenciaga in the “LWYMMD” music video (diving into that in Stories shortly).

But what might interest you even more is that I believe this pair of boots originally hails from a Marc Jacobs 2017 collection. I’ll leave it at that.

Louis Vuitton ‘Petite Malle Bag’ - $5,700.00 (pictured similar)

If my eyes don’t deceive me, despite Taylor carrying this LV with the 'back’ facing out - based on the cross stitching this appears to be the very same 'Petite Malle’ she used to carry back in 2016. And if so, a fun fact that her initials are engraved on the gold front clasp.

Alaïa ‘Flared Hem Belted Cotton Mini Dress’ - $1,790.00

The dress, meanwhile, has a flouncy tiered skater silhouette - a femme profile that Taylor is very familiar with and has worn so many iterations of in skirt form.

But here, accessorized with a ton of gold chains, and rendered into an all black ensemble feels more Black Swan ballerina meets 5pm business goth punching out from the clock. Taylor opted to keep the buttons undone for a more relaxed and ‘undone’ fit through the forearm which reminds me very much of the oversized silhouettes she would don around 2017 that back then felt like baggy coats of armour but here has a bit more polish thanks to the shirting detail of the dress.

Chiefs vs Bills | Orchard Park, NY | January 21, 2024

Gant ‘Blank Canvas Project x Kilo Kish Bouclé Varsity Jacket’ - $1,800.00 (sold out)

Rather than opt for actual Chiefs merchandise, Taylor opted for one of her go-to outerwear brands in Chiefs-approved colours that also included some stars (do u like dem?). I’ve found that on a number of occasions opting for Chiefs colours in otherwise normal street style garments has been her strategy for away games.

This particular jacket was part of a trio of designs Gant executed in collaboration with artistic talents as part of their “Blank Canvas Project” campaign. The concept being to “[transform] the quintessential symbol of American Sportswear into wearable works of art.” The artist in question, Kilo Kish, said the “inspiration behind [her] design was Ivy League culture” - an extension on the themes she explored on her album American Gurl. As with much of Gant’s ethos, the brand’s objective to create modern pieces that are not only heirloom quality but that riff on Americana athletics is such a natural integration into Taylor’s game day style. The added bonus is that each of the Blank Canvas designs had 100% of its sale proceeds go towards a charity of the artist’s choosing - something I’m sure Taylor could get behind having done her own share of philanthropic donations on each of the stops on the Eras Tour.

Kilo added when designing the jacket, “When people see the jacket, I want them to feel the playfulness and I want them to feel like it’s personalized and almost homemade looking.” That homemade feeling has been a personal touch also present through Taylor’s game day fashion. Where, in a world of seemingly endless options, Taylor has shown a level of care and intention to opt for small businesses (local to KC or women-owned) or items that are handmade (Kristin Juszczyk’s jacket and Kut the Knit’s crocheted beanie as just two examples).

As for the ‘CTFL’ on the jacket - my best guess (as confirmed by the artist themselves) is the FL is a reference to Kilo’s home state of Florida and the CT to Gant’s headquarters in Connecticut. Which is also paid homage to in Gant’s FW 2023 collection with varsity jackets honouring New Haven, Connecticut and its Ivy League school Yale that Kilo also wore in campaign imagery for Gant.

Gant ‘240 Mulberry Street Tailored Coat’ - $1,700.00

If indeed intentional, this sandwich styling moment is not only a repeat (one of Taylor’s key style pillars) but a smart repeat that creates an immediate Fashion History callback moment.

The last time Taylor wore this coat was to the Chiefs December 10 game against the Buffalo Bills. The Chiefs happen to be playing the Bills again on Sunday as part of the playoffs (where I assume Taylor will also be in attendance in one of the boxes at Highmark Stadium).

Manu Atelier ‘Mini Gala Bag in Linen Suede’ - $535.00

This is the second bag that Taylor has carried from this small, female-owned business as per her trio of style pillars like supporting smaller, indie brands.

The bigger question is how many comments in will it take for someone to ask if this is a hint that she’s going to the Met Gala?

The Row ‘Ieva Hooded Cashmere Maxi Dress’ - $3,350.00 $2,345.00

There is shockingly a lot from this very simple and cozy outfit that I like. Sure, Taylor is basically in a fashun version of a snuggie - but who wouldn’t want to rock that kind of look if one had the means.

Tonally, I love the sandwich styling happening between the coordination of her sweater dress and bag (lighter colours in touchable materials - cashmere and suede) and her coat and boots (darker colours in heavier, functional materials - wool and leather).

Paige ‘Gemma Pant in Black Fog Luxe Coating’ - $249.00

As a uniform of their own, Taylor’s clothing choices were an intentional coordination with other WAGs in attendance - from a white hat, custom jackets, and an all black base that included a leather-esque pant and leather boots.

Editorial Note: Pictured are the similar 'Cindy’ style by Paige in the same black coating colourway.
