The Eras Tour | Speak Now section | Version 7

Reem Acra custom (pictured similar)

During her “All Too Well” speech given on the first night of her Parisian tour dates Taylor said, “I think [this tour has] probably been the best experience of my life … But one thing I wish I would’ve gotten to do is … I wish I would’ve gotten to play all of our tours for you. And this tour, the Eras Tour, is a chance for us to bring you all of my favourite memories from those tours. Tours where I didn’t get to come see you in France—and get to collect all of them and experience all of it together.”

And in that moment, a lot of her new costume choices (almost two dozen were added over the course of the opening weekend of the European leg) suddenly made sense.

Why her 1989 skirts fall closer to their original 2015 tour circle skirt silhouette (the 1989 Tour had 8 dates in Europe).

Why her Fearless dress so closely honours the black/white fringed Mandalay dress from the Fearless Tour (the Fearless Tour only visited half a dozen places in England).

And, of course, why her Speak Now dress feels like a more voluminous take on the Reem Acra gown she wore on the original Speak Now tour in 2011. More star power = more skirt circumference.

It’s even more apt that she would turn to that very same designer to recreate the magic. This particular gown is a custom take on Look 26 from the ‘Glamour A La Reem’ collection featuring beautiful almost seashell-like pleats and crystal embellishments. How amazing is it to see a more glamourous revival of a dress that was once just a simple, shin-length gown? And those ballet flats!

A fun fact? Even for the dozen European dates of the Speak Now Tour, Taylor actually never wore her previous Reem Acra dress which debuted for the North American dates. For Europe, Taylor actually wore a different dress by Collette Dinnigan that (naturally) involved an on-stage costume change.

“I Can See You” music video | July 7, 2023

This is not the first time that I’ve had to make a post like this. If you’ve been around long enough, you’ll recall the masterpost I made of all the archival outfits seen on past Taylor’s in the “LWYMMD” music video.

This was such a lovely trip down memory lane!

Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) | July 7, 2023

Reem Acra Spring 2022

The Speak Now TV photoshoot continues to pull through with its thoughtful homages to the original cover. If you’ll recall, both the original front and back covers of Speak Now (2010) saw Taylor wear two of the designer’s soft, frothy gowns from their Spring 2007 collection.

This iteration is an equally soft, romantic, and whimsical pull from Spring 2022. What a beautiful closed loop.

Worn with: Capezio flats

Reem Acra Bridal 2010

Taylor wore a beautiful princess gown with a beaded belt from Reem Acra’s then-new bridal collection. She opted to wear it strapless as opposed to the lacy bolero that took to the runway.

It definitely makes you think about what Taylor would wear to her own wedding someday, doesn’t it? What kind of gown can you picture her wearing?

Fun Fact: Taylor is wearing the same headband from this music video in this 2015 candid.

Brittany Maack’s wedding | Reading, PA | February 20, 2016

Reem Acra custom

Taylor performed her maid of honour duties at her childhood friend Brittany Maack’s wedding today in their home state of Pennsylvania.

For you eagle-eyed TSS-ers, you may have already noted the immense similarities between this gown and the one she wore by the same designer to the 2013 Winter Whites Gala. Her maid of honour gown differs by a more sharply plunging neckline, further off-the-shoulder detail and the skirt is made of blush fabric instead of white.

While the illusion neckline on the original Reem Acra gown was practically flawless, I think I like the deeper plunge on this version much better. Plus, I adore the blush colour of the skirt here and of course her pink lip! I can’t help but think of what Taylor’s own wedding gown will look like.

50th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards | Dallas, TX | April 19, 2015

Reem Acra Spring 2015

My first thought was: Wow it looks like her Azzaro and Kaufmanfranco dresses had a full-length lovechild.

My second thought was: This is a rather underwhelming gown to wear for a milestone achievement award.

I guess perhaps I was hoping for something far grander than this minty cutout gown which marries parts of both of those aforementioned dresses. Something with a bit more drama and extravagance. Though perhaps it’s understandable she would want to be a bit more low-key at an event for a genre of music she no longer associates with. And the shade is nonetheless beautiful on her.

Still, this was a milestone achievement award she’s meant to receive and I think a little bit more flair should have been served up for tonight.

Reem Acra Spring 2007

How about a bit of a flashback all the way to the Speak Now era? For the front cover, Taylor wore this beautiful chiffon gown by Reem Acra that featured a small notch in the bustline.

z100 Jingle Ball | New York City, NY | December 12, 2014

Reem Acra Spring 2015

Two red carpets, one day. Taylor took cut outs for another spin at the z100 Jingle Ball, wearing this torso triangular cut out dress from the latest Reem Acra spring collection.

While I think the colour is divine and the shoes are on point, taking their strappy cue from the runway, I’m not quite sure about the way this dress drapes or the length — usually Taylor opts for a mini or a gown.

This actually kind of reminds me of a grown-up version of the berry coloured Balenciaga dress she wore to the 2008 CMTs.

What do you think?

Reem Acra Fall 2014

Though this beautiful shade of purple was featured on Reem Acra’s Fall 2014 runway, no such dress like Taylor’s was shown. It’s possibly an off-the-runway piece.

Reem Acra Spring 2011

As there were no full-body shots available of Taylor in this dress and the Reem Acra Spring 2011 collection features two dresses with the same top, I can’t confirm which dress is the correct one.

Though I hope I’m not in the minority here when I wish we could have seen the dress on the right with the beautiful skirt on Taylor.

Winter Whites Gala | London, England | November 26, 2013

Reem Acra Resort 2014

Now this is how you do an illusion panel! Taylor showed up on the blue carpet at Kensington Palace - also attended by Prince William and Bon Jovi - looking every bit a Winter Princess in this jeweled and chiffon white confection that didn’t appear in the Resort 2014 collection but carries all its trademarks.

Taylor’s set for the night included “Fifteen”, “Love Story” and “I Knew You Were Trouble.”

Reem Acra Spring 2010 RTW

After the North American leg of the tour ended I didn’t think I would be seeing Taylor for weeks and weeks as she usually goes into hiding in the studio between legs.

So colour me surprised when she showed up to the premiere of her good friend Hailee Steinfeld’s latest movie looking quite prim and proper in a Reem Acra dress stretching way back to 2010 - talk about old school.

Reem Acra Fall 2009 RTW

I think this princess ballgown from one of Taylor’s favourite designers will always be a memorable one with fans. Taylor accepted the prestigious award for Album of the Year for Fearless in this dress. =)
