Stella McCartney ‘Falabella Bucket Bag’ - $1,225.00

On the styling front, loose waves feel right for the outfit. I appreciate the consistent aesthetic and tonal tie-in from her accessories straight to the coloured stripes of her crocheted dress via her buttery yellow Gucci slides and a brown Stella bag.

Stella McCartney ‘Pinstripe Wool Coat’ - $2,200.00

The angular way her pinstripe coat falls reminds me of the Westwood jacket she wears during “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart”. The single button, sharp lapels, and curved hem seem to mimic the high/low shape of that jacket. If intentional, it’s a great way to bridge fashion and connect her street style with her stage style.

Stella McCartney ‘Lace Up Jacquard Bustier Top’ - $1,775.00

Opting for Stella McCartney pieces while out to dinner with the designer and in said designer’s home city makes sense to me. The fact that she’d opt for something dark, sensuous, feminine, and with bustier / lingerie vibes feel on par for Poets fashion.

Stella McCartney Resort 2024

During the North American leg of the Eras Tour last summer, Taylor often returned to her home base in NYC. Now on the European leg of Eras, I had been wondering when we’d see her pop in London. The days ahead of her U.K. dates seemed like a fitting time as any. And oh is she saying things with this ensemble.

Opting for Stella McCartney pieces while out to dinner with the designer and in said designer’s home city makes sense to me. The fact that she’d opt for something dark, sensuous, feminine, and with bustier / lingerie vibes feel on par for Poets fashion.

Though I think opting for either the bustier or the pants would have been great, who am I to deny Taylor a matching set moment - as was originally styled in the SM Resort 24 collection.

Stella McCartney ‘Oversized Knit Sweater with Fringe Hem’ - $1,690.00 (sold out)

In support of her friend Cara Delevingne, Taylor made an appearance at a London theatre to watch her play Sally Bowles in Cabaret. Cara’s been in the role since March of this year and it’s so nice that Taylor finally had an opportunity to support her in person.

Taylor opted for a very cozy knit by one of her favourite British designers, Stella McCartney.

The knit dress is from Stella’s AW 2024 collection and its ruffled hem is meant to be inspired by fluffy feathers but of course in keeping with their ethos on animal cruelty, the effect is to mimic and not use the actual material.

Stella McCartney ‘Logo Perforated Shoulder Bag’ - $1,025.00

How fun is it to see the transition of Bleachella 2016 (Bleached Hair Version) to Bleachella 2024 (Bleachers Version)? I so love seeing Taylor able to take in her friends’ sets at this festival (she was spotted side stage at Bleachers and cheering on Ice Spice).

Stella McCartney ‘Ribbed Recycled Cashmere Sweater Dress’ - $1,490.00

I’m never one to turn my nose up at any shade of green, but if I were to pick a favourite it would probably land closer in the realm of something like this rich evergreen for me.

There’s something about the colour combination here that despite the bag sticking out to me tonally feels very walk through a wintery forest. evermore vibes, if you will.

Looking in my own closet, I’m very excited to copy + paste this combination myself - necklace stack included.

Stella McCartney ‘Double Breasted Wool Coat’ - $2,032.00 $1,422.00

2024 really starting off on a great note for me personally. I’d consider this 'fit a very close copy + paste - perhaps subbing in her cognac leather bag for a black one as a more cohesive sandwich style moment with her boots.

Stella McCartney ‘Skyla Chain Embellished Boots’ - $970.00

On her birthday eve, Taylor was spotted out again in NYC in a black and tan ensemble that I think suffers primarily from two competing ‘spotlight’ grabbing items that feel like fashun twists on closet staples. A trench rendered in unexpected leather, and black heeled boots with oversized elements like a chunky chain and matching textural sole.

While I’ve loved the outerwear by Stella that Taylor has worn recently, this marks two Stella McCartney shoe choices in a row that I am not a fan of. My preference would have been a simple streamlined heeled boot. Though I can appreciate how the chain detail on these boots are a reference to Stella’s iconic handbags while also tying in to Taylor’s bag hardware.

Stella McCartney ‘Frayed Checked Wool Blend Tweed Mini Skirt’ - $975.00

Just the other day in stories I was talking about the history of Taylor and mini skirts and how - especially as we approach the end of 2023 - that this year has seen quite a revival for them in her candid fashion.

While it’s fun to see Taylor’s style come to fruition in the moment, I very much think that consideration for an ‘era’ as a whole can really only be done in hindsight once we have a birds eye view of the time period in order to be able to really pull out trends, commonalities, and patterns.

In this current moment, a wool tweed mini (esp paired with designed tights - another closet staple Taylor has a long history with) feels preppy, smart, and wintery. Almost Gossip Girl-esque!

Stella McCartney ‘Double Breasted Wool Blend Tweed Coat’ - $2,900.00

While Stella McCartney is very much a Lover era brand (courtesy of Taylor’s fashion collaboration with the brand), a matching set like this gives me #1989 flashbacks - an era known predominantly for the power of a co-ordinated ‘fit.

Still riding the high of 1989 (Taylor’s Version) this very much to me feels like an elevated, business-esque, modern take on the crop tops and skirts of her 2014 self. But built for cooler weather.

It also to me harkens back to her neck to foot plaid look for the Miss Americana premiere at Sundance which also featured a wool check plaid.

Stella McCartney ‘Belted Teddy Coat’ - $2,400.00

It’s very fun as we progress deeper into football season that, by extension, we get to see Taylor’s game day fashion change to reflect the actual seasons of the time as well. As a result, we get to see her rocking on-brand Chiefs red via her outerwear like this cozy teddy coat by Taylor go-to Stella McCartney.

The rest of her outfit was sleek and minimal black. The choice to go with a bun also felt like a wise one for me to let the mockneck of her top and the volume of her coat have room to breathe and occupy most of the visual look.

Stella McCartney ‘Frayme Crocodile Effect Bucket Bag’ - $1,995.00

Taylor has carried many chain Stella McCartney designs over the years in the forms of various sized bags and even backpacks, namely from Stella’s ‘Falabella’ line - it’s an iconic signature of Stella. I like that the hardware ties in to the jewelry of the ‘fit and the colour continuing the theme of black.

Stella McCartney ‘Ryder Alter Sporty Mat Boots’ - $1,850.00

This feels like a great example of why proportions and silhouette matter.

In terms of items and the ‘fit concept this has all the makings of a great copy + paste for me: Black, sandwich styling, killer boots. But in execution, I think there are tweaks I would make to the look - starting with these boots.

For balance with the skirt’s short hemline I can see the idea behind opting for a thigh high height. But I’m not a fan of the foot bed shape, kitten heel, and slouchy combination of these particular Stella boots.

Had it been my choice, I would have preferred her trusty knee high ‘Babel’ Louboutin boots for a similar but more streamlined shoe.

Stella McCartney ‘Oversized Cotton Rugby Polo Shirt’ - $850.00

This dress is so comically Taylor. From the designer choice to feeling like an evolution of her preppy schoolgirl style that’s been a mainstay aesthetic in her outfit repertoire since Fearless days. But this version takes styling cues from the Stella runway, wearing this oversized shirt as a mini dress with tall boots.

The horse girl energy between the RL cap and the equestrian take on a school uniform emblem are also very Taylor.

A fun note about this particular Stella collection is its further push towards sustainability with most of the pieces taking material sourcing from upcycled or overstock fabrics.
