The New York Giants are expected to sign free-agent cornerback Adoree' Jackson, a source confirmed to The Athletic. Jackson's deal is worth $39 million over three years.

Jackson, 25, had played with the Titans since being drafted by the team in 2017. He was sidelined most of the 2020 season with a knee injury and started just two games.

What he brings to the Giants

Dan Duggan, Giants beat writer: Jackson fills a major hole the Giants had at the cornerback spot opposite Pro Bowler James Bradberry. A first-round pick by the Titans in 2017, the 5-foot-11, 185-pound Jackson is extremely talented. His athleticism should enable defensive coordinator Patrick Graham to play his preferred man coverage. Jackson comes with questions, especially after missing 13 games last season due to a knee injury, but he’ll undoubtedly be an upgrade over the No. 2 corners the Giants used last season.

How do the Giants stack up in the NFC East?

Duggan: The Giants aggressively addressed two of their biggest needs by signing Jackson and wide receiver Kenny Golladay. But the biggest addition in the division is the Cowboys getting back quarterback Dak Prescott healthy and happy with a $160 million extension. Defending division champs Washington added Ryan Fitzpatrick as a stopgap quarterback and made quality additions with wide receiver Curtis Samuel and cornerback William Jackson III. The division is wide open and the arrow is pointing up for the Giants, but their NFC East hopes hinge on third-year quarterback Daniel Jones and an unproven offensive line.

What's next for the Giants?

Duggan: The Giants should be done making any major moves as they’ll need to restructure some existing deals just to fit Golladay and Jackson under the salary cap. It should mostly be bargain signings to build depth for the rest of free agency. Signing Golladay and Jackson opens up the Giants’ options with the 11th pick. They won’t feel compelled to take a receiver or a cornerback with their first pick, so they can simply take the best player available.
