Mean Girls Tickets

On Wednesdays, Mean Girls the Musical officially opens. Last night, 20 years after the original film was released, six years after the Broadway production first opened, and a few months after the musical film release, London finally got to sit with the Mean Girls. But did the critics think that the musical was totally fetch, or will it be getting a dedicated page in their burn book? 

The Savoy Theatre, opened in 1881, and famously was the first public building in the world to be lit by electricity and since then the biggest theatrical stars have lit up the stage with their own electricity, from Nicole Scherzinger in Sunset Boulevard to Sarah Jessica Parker in Plaza Suite. The theatre itself is nestled in the luxurious Savoy Hotel and guests can swim in the hotel swimming pool directly above the stage.  If you have the chance to make a splash and see any of the incredible shows at the Savoy Theatre, then read on to find out where the best place to sit is for you.

What are the best seats at the Savoy Theatre?

The Savoy Theatre has three seating blocks: the Stalls, the Dress Circle and the Grand Circle.

The Stalls are a great option for those who want to feel like they are part of the action, but the best views of the stage are in the centre of the Stalls, specifically from rows H to P. However, the back of the Stalls may be obstructed by the overhang of higher tiers.

The Dress Circle is a great place to sit as it offers a panoramic view of the stage. The front rows provide an excellent view, as well as extra legroom. However, the top of the stage may be obstructed in this section.

The Grand Circle is a budget-friendly option that offers a clear view of the stage. However, audiences may find that it is further away from the stage than the other sections. Additionally, there is a safety rail in front of rows F and G, which may slightly restrict the view.

Based on the modern classic film that starred Lindsay Lohan in her prime, Tina Fey's Mean Girls musical will not continue its Broadway run after theatres are permitted to re-open. The hit show saw Gretchen Wieners portrayed by Ashley Park, who was nominated for both a Tony and Drama Desk Award and garnered attention recently for her role as Chinese-Korean nanny Mindy Chen on Netflix's Emily in Paris. Mean Girls is expected to transfer to London's West End, though likely due to COVID-19, no venue or potential opening dates have been confirmed as of yet.

In what is surely the 'groolest' London theatre news of the year thus far, Tina Fey and Lorne Michaels have announced their intentions for Broadway's Mean Girls musical and it's looking pretty fetch! The Tony Award-nominated production will not only transfer to the West End next year but will also be made into a brand-new musical film! 

Is the West End a carb? 2020 is shaping up to be a big year for Theatreland thanks not only to the announcement that Disney’s Frozen The Broadway Musical will be premiering at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane following the venue’s 45-million-pound renovations, but also to recent rumours spread by Baz Bamigboye of the Daily Mail that Tina Fey’s Mean Girls is eyeing an autumn 2020 West End premiere. Grool!
