You’re struggling to find a new job in brand management. How can you stand out from the competition?
People do business with people they know and like. Resumes and cover letters alone are often too impersonal to convince employers to hire you. Job adverts tend to attract tons of applicants, which puts you in intense competition with many others. Very few will even make it to the interview stage. Networking helps you get recommended and recommended people almost always get a foot in the door. Plus, the job you want may not be advertised at all. Networking helps you get inside information and job insights, often before a formal job description is created or a job announced publicly.

What are the best ways to manage a social media crisis with a competitor?
One thing I've learnt is that not every "social media crisis" requires a response. Some things are best left to fizzle out on their own. Too often Brand Owners in their haste to defend themselves end up throwing oil on the fire and causing even more harm. Assess the reach and impact of the so-called crisis and see how best to settle, ideally offline and directly with the source.

Your team is struggling to build brand awareness. What are the best tools to help them succeed?
If you have tried various strategies to connect with your audience and you aren't getting the traction you are expecting then I would suggest that it's time to go out to your community and engage them in conversations that allow you to better understand their wants, needs, motivations and barriers. Then be prepared to re-imagine your brand strategy and engagement plans.

Retail Lab Day showcased the latest shopper insights and technology to our clients, WPP group and media contacts, taking them on on a physical journey to interact with experts and exhibitors in 3 environments, reflecting the new 'post digital' path to purchase at home, out of home and in store.
We had about 120 people attending on the day (80% of the registrations), and a good press coverage after the event.
