Hello, Internet. It’s me…The Webby People’s Voice Daily Digest!

The 20th Annual Webby Awards Nominees were announced this morning and we’ve seen a record number of votes cast for all the amazing Internet nominated for a People’s Voice honor.

Quick refresher: People’s Voice is a promotional olympics of sorts, where the best sites, online vids, ads, apps and social media accounts duke it out to win a Webby. Our Academy chooses one Winner in each category, but you, the people, get to choose a Winner too.

Now until when the polls close on Thursday, April 21, we’ll posting a recap of the best PV campaign tactics we’re seeing from our Nominees.

It’s that time of year again—spring is in the air, Mad Men is back on the air, and the best of the Internet needs your votes to reign supreme in Webby People’s Voice . 

For you who are new on the scene, People’s Voice is a massive online competition, popularity contest, and promotional olympics, where the best sites, apps, ads, online videos, and social media accounts fight it out to win a Webby. Our Academy chooses one Winner in each category, and in the spirit of the open Internet, the people choose a Winner too.

Every day until voting ends on April 23rd, we’ll be writing a wrap-up of the best campaign tactics we see from our Nominees.

With the last day of People’s Voice coming to a close in a few short hours, we present for your listening pleasure: 

OK. Now that the soundtrack’s taken care of. Let’s discuss today’s highlights. 

A lot of our comedy contenders really stepped up their game today. With time running out, guess they figured winning a Webby was no laughing matter. 

Funny or Die gussied up their site to score some final votes. 

The Tosh team cooked up a little blog post. 

Portlandia is just the best. We’d pickle THEM if we could and put them on our mantle. 

We also felt #blessed to see Deepak Chopra spreading the love threefold. 

We can’t wait to reveal our winners on Tuesday! Thank to all of our nominees for a wonderful campaign.

OH and it’ not over yet. You have until TONIGHT at 11:59 pm PST to VOTE!

We’re just 6 days into this year’s People’s Voice and we’re already at 500,000 votes and counting. So many good things to vote for, so little time. Keep at it. We know you can do it. 

We have a very big week ahead of us. With only 10 days left, it’s time to get serious. 

A good way to get serious is to have your close personal friend Kim Kardashian tweet on your behalf. 

Despite Kim’s kultural dominance and ridiculously large following of seven zillion, her chosen nominee is still trailing. 

Lesson learned, one giant celebrity tweet does not a victory make. 

The Webbys, like the Web itself, relies on community for success. It takes a village to win a Webby. 

Can’t wait to see what’s in store this week, villagers. Make sure to follow us on Twitter and Instagram and hashtag it allll up with that #webbys so we know what’s happening, you know what’s happening and we can all be on the same webpage.

With well over 250,000 votes cast, this year’s People’s Voice race is heating up. With millions of votes still at stake, let the campaigning begin!

The People’s Voice is, after all, for the people, and you won’t get the support of the people unless you get the sweet, sweet attention of the people. 

It’s all about the people, man.

The media masterminds at Vice were pretty quick to get their readers voting. GIVE US WEBBYS, OR GIVE US DEATH, they declared. You can keep your swords sheathed for now, dudes. Vice is winning 2 out of 3 categories with a pretty hefty lead. 

Pitchfork, Engaget, and The Verge also posted about their quests for Internet victory. Sadly, their accompanying graphics were not as awesome as the one above. Good work still.

Alternate campaign strategies include asking your famous friends to help you spread the word.

With over 150,000 votes already cast, the race is well under way and it’s only the second day of this year’s People’s Voice. You might want to pace those clicking fingers. Just kidding, there’s no such thing as spending too much time on the Internet. 

A huge thanks to the amazing minds and talents at Area 17 that made this year’s People’s Voice site so easy and fun to vote in, and to our hosts with the most at Engine Yard. 

Earlier today, CNN discovered the hidden gems in our nominees. If you haven’t yet, go find a trove of your own.
