Grey’s Anatomy Increases Scott Speedman’s Season 21 Episode Count

The doctor is in… demand. Grey’s Anatomy has sealed a deal with Scott Speedman not only to continue to recur in Season 21 but to appear in more episodes than the season prior, TVLine has confirmed. Whereas in the writers’- and actors’-strikes-shortened Season 20, the actor played Nick Marsh in four episodes, he’s set to do five this go-round.
Word of Speedman’s re-expanded role (via our sister site Deadline) comes on the heels of the news that on-screen leading lady Ellen Pompeo will be popping up more often in Season 21 than she has since stepping away as a series regular halfway through Season 19. Though in Season 20’s finale, Meredith Grey was given the chop by boss Catherine Fox, the odds of her staying fired (along with Amelia Shepherd, Teddy Altman and Owen Hunt) are, we’d venture to guess, slim to none.
Speedman made his Grey’s Anatomy debut back in Season 14, throwing such sparks opposite Pompeo that Nick was brought back in Season 18 to pick up where he and Meredith had left off. Their relationship has since been touch-and-go at best, but by the end of Season 20, they appeared to be altogether committed to one another. Mer had even put a downpayment on a house for them and her kids.

Glad he’s back and I hope with a longer season he gets more to do. I like Nick with the interns and maybe we can see his niece again and explore more of his life outside of Meredith.
Does anyone actually want this? I never see positive sentiments about this character.
From four shows last year to five for this year? Doesn’t sound like a huge increase to his role. I do like Nick and wish they would have made him the overseer of the interns. I thought it was headed that way, but that all changed.
It’s actually a decrease if they do 20 odds episodes. 20-25% of the shows compared to 40%.
his character has potential outside of Meredith and his best stories was with the interns . their romantic relationship are no longer healthy or interesting. I hope for a bold move and the writer end them for good and explore new possibilities.
Thank goodness! He’s one of the bright spots on the show…him & Linc! He should be on whether or not Meredith is.
While I am happy to see that he is coming back for more, can we please stop the drama with Nick and Meredith’s relationship and let them be happy?! Even Ellen Pompeo said she’s tired of the back and forth with them. Keep them together, working out their relationship and stick with it. I am tired of Meredith getting in her own damn way.
Why? Why do we need this?
I’ve been disappointed with Meredith Greys new love life. I thought Derek was the love of her life never to be replaced;;
so she should be alone forever after being widowed in her late 30s/early 40s?!? That’s an awfully long time to be alone.
I like Nick but not the Nick/Mer romance, at this point just bring back Derek doesn’t matter if it makes no sense, let Mer leave with him and the kids and end the horrible storylines and romantic interests thrown at her since he died.
For a show that supposedly advocating to women. I don’t understand their insistence to have Meredith in a relationship. And the way they are turning her more manipulative and toxic last season and Nick to a doormat. A woman can be happy with her work, kids, friends and her life in general. And she can be her ownself without turning the man to a submissive.
I hope writing for them get better

Scott Speedman and his character Nick will always be welcome on my screen. But if that means more Meredith, I would rather pass. She has always been my LEAST favorite character on Greys. And she has become more and more insufferable. Probably not a popular opinion, but I was completely on Katherines side last season.
