Days of Our Lives’ Abigail Mystery Deepens: Who Is AnnaLynne McCord Really Playing?
Well, that didn’t last long. Just 10 days after a DNA test confirmed that Abigail DiMera was alive and well, Days of Our Lives has revealed that those results — like so many in the show’s history of medical malpractice — were totally bogus.
Monday’s episode featured a clandestine meeting between AnnaLynne McCord‘s mystery character and Dr. Greene (Jonah Robinson), the latter of whom was apparently responsible for fudging the DNA test.
“I’m just grateful you were in the right place at the right time,” the Abigail imposter told her accomplice. “As soon as the DNA results were in, Chad had no doubt that I was his dead wife.” Dr. Greene assured her that they should be in the clear, assuming she isn’t required to take a follow-up test. (Spoiler alert: We bet she will!) The duo then began discussing the “next steps” to their plan, but Chad showed up just in time to interrupt them.
Though McCord technically made her Days debut back in June, it wasn’t until Aug. 14 that a DNA test revealed her character to be none other than the presumed-dead Abigail DiMera, previously portrayed by Marci Miller. Or so we thought.
We knew that McCord was playing someone who underwent plastic surgery and suffered from amnesia (the soap opera double whammy!), but until that test confirmed her as a genetic match, we weren’t ready to assume anything. Heck, on this show, how certain can we even be about a DNA test?
While Chad, Jack and the rest of the family were immediately thrilled to have Abigail back home, the woman in question wasn’t feeling the same warm and fuzzies. “I don’t know you — any of you!” she told them. “I don’t feel like I belong here. None of this makes any sense to me at all.”
In the end, “Abigail” reluctantly agreed to stay in Salem, posting up at the DiMera Mansion while she adjusts to her new (old?) life. “So I guess Abigail’s home,” she said with a sigh as she took in her new (old?) surroundings.

Way to easy. Just because the DNA matched Jack’s, who’s to say she is Abigail. Maybe she’s Gwen with amnesia and plastic surgery. Maybe she’s another unknown child of Jack’s. Could she be some unknown sibling or cousin of Jack’s? How bout testing her DNA against Jennifer’s, JJ’s or Thomas’s just to confirm. What if this is a long con that the mystery woman is either being used as a pawn or she is fully invested? They could test the DNA with the family dog and it would be a match. It means nothing in Salem.

Gwen made an appearance in November and more recently it was implied she answered when Leo first called in July and told him to “go screw yourself.” It’s not her. That said, I did wonder if Jack had any other daughters that we – and maybe even he – didn’t know about, or as you said an unknown sibling, cousin, niece, etc.
Of course, the results could have been completely faked too, which seems even more likely after Friday’s episode, but by who? I don’t take Dr. Mark Greene to be shady but we know there is a connection there… Or was some lab tech we have never seen paid off or something?
She is in a conspiracy with that new doctor…Dr Greene. It’s revealed 8/26/24

This show has people coming back from the dead all the time. Crazy after we all saw her stabbed. And where is her baby? Wasn’t she pregnant?
Why can’t the show put a couple together and keep them that way and play off of that. Bring some family values back.

Actors change places all the time. Phillip, Brady, Ben, Theresa, just to name a few. Why couldn’t she just be Abbie without the facial reconstruction and amnesia? Her hair, body, eyes and voice would be the same, right? This is stupid and so is a soap opera on a soap opera. Are the writers running out of story lines? I expect better, especially when I’m paying now to continue watching.
The headwriter Ron Carlivati was running out of story lines, so that’s why they replaced him. Unfortunately, since the show films nine months ahead, we aren’t going to get to see the new writers’ stuff for a while.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he was copying the John Black-as-Roman story, but since they replaced him the story may end up going in a new direction.

Was this supposed to be a secret? We’ve know for months that she was going to be “Abigail” but is she really??? DNA tests in Salem are worthless.
Look at two characters on different shows. Rebecca Budig Is taking over the role of Dr. Taylor Hayes on The “bold and beautiful“ two actresses have played the role previously Krista Allen, who is 5300 Tilo originated the role 54 now Rebecca Buddy, who is 51 aging backwards I guess as a thing look at when they recast phyllis on young and restless, she was woke up from her coma and she had lost 10 years of her life literally because the actress that played her was 45 at the time and Michelle Stafford was 55. I may be wrong On the ages of these last women so I apologize if I am wrong, but what I am trying to say is that soap operas recast different eye colors different ages different everything all the time. I’m just gonna ride with it and see what storyline plays out with AnnaLynne McCord. Abigail was always an interesting character to me and will see what this version of her is going to do

Days of our lives needs to come up with some new story lines. Stop bring people back from the dead. Let some couples on the show be happy for more than a few Episodes. The writers need to come up with some new storylines and stop bringing people back from the dead, kidnapping people, and running people over. I enjoyed the show or wish there was some new storylines.

OK, so a dead woman comes back to life with a new face and no memory, I believe that. I also think that having a soap opera within a soap opera is the dumbest thing you’re righters thought of yet, it actually beats out the sarcophagus and the devil episodes. Aside from all of that, losing the best character played by the best actress on the show Arianna Zucker, I think I’ll be bailing on Peacock.

Marci wanted to leave (at least as full-time) to pursue other opportunities. Also if this mystery woman is Abigail, and I’m not totally convinced yet, remembering wouldn’t suddenly undo reconstructive surgery.

This show doesn’t air in the UK, but having read oth0er comments I’d suspect there is more to it. An actress of Annalynne’s profile wouldn’t be cast otherwise.

If they didn’t recast people, most of the characters would be gone…. Character is always bigger than the actor and nobody is beyond replacement.
Not only doesn’t she look like Abigail at all! teeth, body etc…she doesn’t sound like her at all, Nothing! Not even close, Kind of dumb! I bet she will turn out to be Jack’s long lost daughter, possibly Gwen’s sister down the road, but not Abigail.

Except every Days fan on Twitter has known for months she isn’t really Abigail and is supposed to be connected to the new family, the Greenes. DNA tests can be easily faked on soaps, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if the mystery woman could be yet another unknown daughter of Jack’s.
There was a picture of them, but I don’t think it was confirmed who she was, just speculation. It could be that she is Abigail but falls for the new doctor when being treated at the hospital. Or maybe she isn’t…not sure! But I did see that pic and am wondering how it fits in also.
I read that that was the scab writers idea & that Ron changed it when the strike was settled. Also, shows sometimes release false info to throw fans off from the truth.
I don’t believe she is Abigail at all DOOL has a way of twisting and pulling off the inevitable but I hope this is not drug out like other storylines are either let her be Abby and find her way back or just let her go
